sarjo
Anyone been here and can make comment? Possible holiday to Reemyvera Beach Resort And Marina, Hurghada.
Bob
I was there about 10 years ago on a diving holiday (the diving there is fantastic, btw). Back then, Hurghada itself was an utter dive with absolutely no tourist attraction other than the diving. I have heard that it's changed massively since I was there though. MarkTheBoy
I got back from Hurgarda about 2 weeks ago, spent a week there with the girlfriend and we loved every minute of it. Awesome place, great weather (a bit windy sometimes though) and really nice hotels. Locals can be a bit 'in-your-face' if they have something to sell but generally well behaved. Also i'd never tried scuba diving before but so many people on here recommended it and im hooked now... the clear water, amazing coral reefs and the wicked looking fish... essential activity if you go anywhere near the red sea. Only about £40 ish too I'd say go for it, i'd definitely go back. How much of a weapon do I look? lol EDIT - "La Shockra" (spelt phonetically) means 'no thankyou' the locals kinda leave you alone if you repeatedly chant this phrase
sarjo
Nice piccies Mark, loving the last one Bit worried tyhe sea will be cold Where did you stay? Was it really warm, dont fancy it being too hot. Is it expensive. I'm looking at an all inclusive at the moment but dont really want to feel tied to the hotel cus its all paid for (cheapskate!!) How far away were the pyramids? Sorry for all the questions - never really considered Egypt before.
Bob
Look like it certainly has changed then Nice to see; 10 years ago any-one wanting a tourist destination would just head up the coast to Sharm-al-Sheikh. Definitely try the diving, or even snorkelling if you're a bit wary. iirc we just wore a thin wet suit when diving to around 20m - the waters really nice out there. Not as warm as the Florida Keys, but still warm Not sure about the Pyramids, think they're a good way off over by Cairo. We took a 6 hour taxi journey (4 of us, I was asleep in the boot!) to see the Valley of the Kings which was pretty cool.
silvershark44
The gf and I went to Dahab last summer. Stayed in the Hilton, was absolutely amazing. Really nice weather too. Really hot, yet not burning hot. Went diving quite a few times as im reasonably qualified as i have been doing it for years. Certainly a nice place to go for that, but i didnt see a single shark which dissappointed me. Im going to malaysia hopefully at the end of summer to work in a dive school on the survivor island for 8 weeks and hopefully finally finish off my instructors course!! silvershark44
This is where we stayed. http://www.hiltonworldresorts.com/Resorts/Dahab/index.html Cant recommend it enough! Plenty to do there too, great dive school, private beach, wind surfing, desert quad biking. Hotel rooms were excellent, each with pretty much a a king size bed.
