Rayman
If anyone happens to come across the correct bolts for the miami gt side mount intercooler i really could do with some. If anyone buys a set for there own miami gt smic then get me some and i'll pay you good money if they are the correct ones. The side mount's on my car at the moment but the bolts i got didnt fit correct and are now rattling about. Its an absolute PITA tbh!!

Rayman
crikey, cant believe you havent got this sorted yet mate... I must admit I was proper shocked that the right bolts werent supplied with mine!! Well its secure on the car but the bolts shud come with it as it was sold as a straight swap when obviously its not. If the bolts are that easy to get they should come with it. For the record i got 4 different types of unc/unf bolts and not of them are right. Rayman
UNC or UNF bolts they are i think, i'll be damned if i know which ones or size tho. Its tricky, but if anyone comes accross any that fit and you can get some more, let me know and i'll buy some off you. Cheers
supra steveo
are they pritty small ??? if so what i could do is get a bag full of unc and unf bolt and send them to you, then when you find the one that fits send it back to me and i will send you what ever you need and when the job is sorted then you can just pay the postage cost

Weather permitting i could give it a shot at the weekend as i need to take the bumper off anyway as its not quite fitted correctly. Shall i pm you? Ric
Take the SMIC to your local motor factors and get a bolt to fit it, people still have the sizes. i did this, cost me 20pence for 10 bolts
Mike M
I couldn't find any engineering shops or motor factors up here that sold anything other than Metric. Fortunately I had a load of M8 bolts and a tap set.
Rayman
Well ive just ordered some UNC bolts so will see if they fit, ive currently got unf bolts in but they arnt quite right, they tighten up so far then just go slack, its definately thread related. 1/4" is correct size! Chris and Alana
I had this problem aswell, what a pain the arse it is, its a direct replacement SMIC but for some stupid reason who ever made it didnt think about just tapping an M6 thread in there to make it a replacement they used some stoneage thread no one knows exixts anymore. I stripped everything to bits went to fit it in and oh the bolts dont fit. I took mine to B&Q, Motorfactor places and a bolt specialist and couldnt get anything to fit what so ever, so out came the Araldite and I glued little lengths of M6 thread rod in the holes and used bolts to hold it onto the mounting points and thats the only way I could get around the problem. Its stupid really because for the price they seem a well built replacement SMIC and they probably work very well but what a shame they are sush a pain the arse to fit properly when all they needed to do was to tap the right thread in there in the first place, it wouldnt have taken anylonger or cost anymore but probably couldnt be arsed to find out what thread it actually needed to be. Anyway, Il shut up now and just say Araldite is the way forward

Anyway might be some locktite time or no more nails!

s3upra
Fitted mine yesterday, after 3 hours messing about at 2 different bolt and tool suppliers, found the (supposedly) correct bolts-only to find they wont do up tight-just kept losing tension. Decided against smashing it up with a large hammer(it was a close thing!) Got an M8 tap and suitable drill(be carefull!)-took all of ten minutes to tap the holes-much better solution imho.Keeps everything metric too. Yeah I was going to do that but It would have cost me an extra £20ish to buy the tap and the extra bolts, doesnt sound a great deal but its extra money and time I shouldnt need to spend. The Arildite done the job for me (I already had it sitting about), just hope it lasts. I cannot understand why they didnt just use an M6 thread in the first place:blink: would have saved a lot of bother for people. Even if they did want to use there own wierd and wonderful thread they could at least supply new bolts to suit. Who knows, maybe they done it on purpose for a laugh. Anyway, to help the guy who started this thread it looks like the bolts you need dont exist and the way forward is very good glue or to get an M8 tap. Just curious and hope no one minds me asking here (I know its in the wanted section but its kinda on topic) but for everyone that has managed to fit one of these SMIC are you happy with the results? did you notice any improvement? I could feel the difference for sure, nothing on paper of course, but it was more noticeable when i came on boost and also when dropping off boost, also when 2nd tubby came online it was more of a hit. Max boost went up too, not sure whether its supposed to but it did according to my controller!

Yep, you have to be very careful with that drill, I could have done with a depth limiter as the alloy is very soft. I definately noticed the difference, No1 felt stronger and No2 gave a bigger kick. Need4Speed
Why is an IC supplied with imperial threads for a car that is entirely metric. Contrary to popular belief, a 13mm spanner is not the next size up from a half inch! /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_shock.gif
