michael
I had a pair of huge walkie talkies (12 AA batteries each and 4ft aerials) that I could use to pick up CB nonsense, I was more of a listener though.

ChrisSZ
LOL!! When it was all still illegal we used to play with the military kit - call peeps in for an eyeball and then whack the rig onto full power - used to toast their kit :)

geoffvalenti
I was well into it circa 1980. I also got my amateur licence G6XJN but I haven't been active for a while, although I've always kept my licence valid just in case I fancied going on air again. It was a lot of fun at the time, I spent many a happy hour sitting in my car, through the night, winding people up Amazingly I still bump into people that were on CB at the same time as me, unsurprisingly, they always seem to remember me by the cars I drove
ivan
Did anyone else go on CB "fox hunts" like we did in Germany? The thought of all those cars going round in circles trying to get a lock on the fox still makes me laugh. One woman was so engrossed in watching the strength needle she collided with a lamp post - in the middle of an otherwise empty car park.
