Kevin Huntley
Or you could run with the Mickey Thompson Drag Radials, there meant to be slightly better grip wise. Kevin
Robbie
I'm out. The cost of new tyres(I run MT's), accomodation, fuel and entry fee adds up to more than I can justify:)
lust2luv
Accommodation? Too far? I drove up from Wiltshire for the first TOTB and drove back the same day. Early hours of Sunday morning the roads are fantastically empty.
Gruggs
I should have a time at the end of April. Is that too late? should be low 11 or high 10....hopefully...or else the car is getting burnt!!! Cheers G
michael
Entry is £100 but you get a copy of the DVD and one spare entry ticket - you can sell these to help with costs Anyone thinking of staying in the local area really needs to get hotels / camping booked asap, the TOTB site has a few listings but obviously York has lots of options available for most budgets: http://www.totb.co.uk/venue/hotels.asp http://www.totb.co.uk/venue/guest-houses.asp http://www.totb.co.uk/venue/campsites.asp http://www.totb.co.uk/venue/self-catering.asp http://www.smoothhound.co.uk is handy, the local Travellodge places are booked up with Leeds, Colton being the nearest with rooms, not the nicest place to leave your car though http://www.travelodge.co.uk Pontefract Ferrybridge isn't the closest but still has cheap rooms available - £26 for a family room that can apparently sleep 4 - the drive up to Elvington from there is easy enough. The nearest available Travel Inn is Castleford, all the York ones are booked up. http://www.premiertravelinn.com Leeds is around 45 minutes away from the venue, you might find it easier to book a room there rather than York - make a weekend of it, take the missus shopping on the Saturday

Im not prepared to go out and buy a pair of drag tyres, have them fitted and balanced for one event. I'd need to be running race fuel as well. If £400+of tyres accomodation petrol and entrance fees doesn't mean a lot to you then thats fine mate. It does to me!
Ian C
I've written back to Chris Mann with a few quotes from this thread, letting him know the state of affairs. I think we'll struggle to get 5 competitors at this rate, never mind ten. I also think the soul has gone from it judging by the mood on here although I'd still like us to go and support the Envy crew and have a good night beforehand If someone wants to sponsor me the entry fee I'll compete -Ian
tDR
There's an idea..... use club funds to pay for our ten entrants... Cheers, Brian.

Kevin Huntley
That's a shame Robbie, I think you would have done well at TOTB! What tyres are you currently running the Mickey Thompson Drag Radials or the Mickey Thompson ET Street wrinkle walls? Thanks Kevin Never said it was too far! I've driven up before just to spectate. Gruggs
Oh Sod it all..i'll be there nevermind the costs....thats until i blow an engine.....hold on...that just means a good excuse for a massive rebuild! Should hopefully have some times at the end of April but thats dependent on a few factors but working on them just now. Cheers G
Justin
I can do it again. Not sure about forking out £100 though. Maybe have to sell some advertising space on the bonnet/doors for tuners/traders stickers? 11.7 and was fastest timed 1 mile for our club last TOTB I fink. What tyres are you currently running the Mickey Thompson Drag Radials or the Mickey Thompson ET Street wrinkle walls? Thanks Kevin Hi Kevin. I'm running the 275 45 17 drag radials. The sad thing is Ive got another set ready to go on when these have worn out. I use these on the street and have been on my car since October last year. The car past its MOT with them on. Why is it these tyres arn't allowed?
Gaz Walker
Hi Kevin. I'm running the 275 45 17 drag radials. The sad thing is Ive got another set ready to go on when these have worn out. I use these on the street and have been on my car since October last year. The car past its MOT with them on. Why is it these tyres arn't allowed? Hi Robbie The radials are allowed - its the ET Streets with the wrinkle walls (what we run normally) aren't allowed. So you'll be fine with them You coming now? Gaz. michael
Surely you'd only be able to get through an MOT with the ET Street Radials? I didn't think any of the drag radials they do had tread? ET Streets are allowed along with other similar tyres. The tyre restrictions came about as a result of this thread: http://bbs.22b.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=004426;p=1 As far as I'm aware all team reps were made aware of it and invited to add their input back in October. michael
I emailed them about BFG drag radials, they said not allowed. True, ET Street Radials and BFG G-Force T/A Drag Radial are OK though. The general rule of thumb is that if you can use them on the road legally, they can pass an MOT and they have an E mark you are OK. A proper list should be available soon but for now that's what I'm working to.
