Ford Cougar

Brother's got one, not the V6 though. He loves it. Can only assume the V6 will be the better one as well.

Bloke at work had one for a few years, not many problems that I know of - he wants something a bit faster and sportier now but AFAIK he liked it the time he had it.

Problems with the V6 would put me off that model. Both the vauxhall V6 lump (3.0 litre) and the ford 2.5 lump are reknowned for heavy breathing and blowing head gaskets. I found this out talking to various mechanics after both my 3.0 litre vauxhall and my father inlaws 2.5 v6 blew a gasket within a month. Like said by others though the 2.0 litre engines in both categories are great lumps.

My old man has had the 2.5 V6 for a few years, as far as I'm aware he hasn't had any issues with it, Its not a bad drive either. The only issue he has is the fact that his son has a car with a bigger engine :D

My brother has owned the V6 model for the last 6 1/2 years. :)

This is what he has just said:

moosing (fog horn type noise)...noise from engine bay....fixed by £10 piece of different shaped pipe....best to replace V6 water pump as original might have plastic impellor which don't last as they discintergrate with time...£23...beware of rust on spot welds on rear wheel arches...only other things replaced were a couple bulbs...

Nothing else has gone wrong

replaced some brake pipes but car is 8 years old

Well don't ask me how but ended up with a 1999 Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo instead

Very impressed with it so far, handles well, quick enough for a daily driver and very comfortable.

It's had all the usual faults fixed by the PO, so fingers crossed for some trouble free motoring :D

Touch Wood :p

You dont want to know how much a cambelt is to replace on one of them.......great piece of late 90s motoring though ;)

Hey thats a nice pink car :D

Yeah, but it's a Fiat. they only did them in pink :limp:

Kidding aside, thought toyota pink was a bitch to get red, got my work cut out here.

Took it for a run across scotland this weekend, great fun, very impressed with it so far.

I used to have one of them a few years ago but in the faster Sprint Blue colour!! :p

Nice cars, but tbh i think its a bit expensive to run as a cheap daily driver although i did have a few of the common faults with mine - manifold, trackrod ends, wishbones, radiator all done in the same week, it was written off the week after :(

My mate has had one of these for a couple of years - and in fact, he bought it to replace his previous Fiat Coupe. He doesn't seem to have many problems with it - although he does limited mileage these days.

Make sure you do keep the cam belt changes up - he did, but even so his belt snapped on his first car.
