The new 800 machines are faster than the old 990's by virtue of being lighter, less fierce on the throttle and able to carry way more speed into and through the corners.

I was in Qatar for the first race and it was awesome! The new Ducati is a monster - Stoner broke the lap record 2 or 3 times during the race and left Rossi for dead on the straights. That thing can rev to 20,000! Rossi put up a good fight and was able to pass Stoner a couple of times round the twisties, but as soon as they exited the last corner, Stoner's Ducati just powered past him like he was on a 250!

It's gonna be a bloody good season by the look of things.

I thought the first race was a tad boring for a season opener. Was good to see Rossi fending of Pedrosa lap after lap on the brakes into the first turn lap after lap.

If Stoner can keep it upright he'll do well this year, that Ducati looked like it had the legs on everything else.

It was hard to tell on the tv but to me it sounds like the bikes are obviously revving a lot higher now, and have lost that deep meaty sound that they had when 990cc. I think it's a shame they had to go 800 no matter how much faster they go.

Rossi for the title

Oh yeah, moto gp beats F1 hands down. Most moto gp races have more overtakes than you see in a whole season of F1. And whenever a driver does overtake in F1 there's normally a dispute between the teams afterwards.

Too much BS in F1, must send the drivers crazy to have a Race Director in your ear the whole race telling them what to do.
