Not as good as a 360. 360 has much better online capability, much stronger range of titles and on the launch line up at least the graphics are better on the 360.

Proof of graphics comment can be seen here;

Big pile of toilet, sony had best stop thinking the Playstation brand is a licence to simply print money cause based on the piles of ps3 stock in my local game(lakeside) there up against it this time round.

I think comparing the quality of launch titles with established XBOX titles is a little unfair. And of course XBOX has a stronger range of titles - it's been around quite a bit longer!

I have heard that the XBOX online stuff is very good, and that the PS3.... isn't. And I suspect Sony have sold less PS3s than they expected - all the shops in Camberley still had stock today.

Perhaps the price is killing them. It seems a little unfair - as I understand it, if you buy all the accessories of the XBOX to match it (wireless, DVD player etc.) then the price is similar - but maybe most people can't afford to buy it all in one go.

I don't get it? The PS3 images look better. Sharper, more detail, less light blur and seemingly a higher dynamic range.

Whoever wrote that article is clueless.

I disagree there...Call of duty is clearly better looking on 360, the rear view mirror is stripped of detail on the ps3 version of carbon as well and just look at fightnight...thats much much better looking on 360.

The biggest argument against ps3 in my eyes though is Sonys lack of vision with regards what next gen is all about...its not about number crunching and polygon pushing, its about expanding the experiance, making videogames more interactive, and more social, Nintendo got it right with the Wii...I think its rubbish but I cant argue with it, its unique and deserves it success, nice to see them making a console comeback...Microsoft get it as well, XBOX live is at the core of the experiance, playing along side others, chatting to friends while clearing a las vegas casino of terrorists played by real players from around the world is next gen..if sitting in your living room playing fifa after a night at the pub on your own is Sonys idea of Nextgen then time will tell for them, they have nothing unique in the ps3, next to no internet infrastructure, which microsoft have been carefully constructing for the last 5 years, to me it just lacks vision.

If were talking about number crunchin, eventually the ps3 will win, I agree to compare lauch titles with the 360's catalogue is unfair, but if I can play better looking games right now, for less money per game and less initial outlay then I can on a console I have been enjoying for the last 18 months...I have to come to the conclusion that the PS3 leaves a somewhat sour taste in the mouth.

This is not the opinion of someone that owns a 360 and wants to discredit the ps3...I have been waiting for it as well...I owned everyone of the previous generation machines and was going to do the same this time, but on the basis of the evidence avaliable its just not worth it...Resistance of man....Killer app...mmm it is until you put gears of war on next to it.

C+ Sony, more effort needed before Im parting with the wrong side of £500.

I agree with you - I think the killer app is missing. It's what is making me hesitate. I do want one, and I would like to see what HD looks like on my TV but I am not all that bothered about the games that are out so far.

And I don't think that is a good thing for Sony. A lot of people won't have bought PS3 because of the price - especially compared to Xbox. The price is not an issue for me at all - I couldn't buy one a day but I can buy one with little thought, and in fact I hadn't even thought of it being an issue until I heard comments about it. And yet - I still didn't buy one today.

I'm sure I will buy one - and it may well be tomorrow - but I do think Sony got something wrong, otherwise I would already own one - or I wouldn't have the chance because they sold out on launch day.

I don't object to the price so much as it comes with SACD, Blu Ray and next gen consoleness out of the box.

However what I do object to is the significant price hike over the US and Asian markets. The reduced functionality - no hardware PS2 emulation. The late launch - once again Europe is the poor relation, and perhaps my biggest gripe is Sony's attempt to placate Europe by giving 100 customers in London a free HDTV. So no-one in the North of England, the West of England, Germany, Spain, or Poland deserves a free HDTV then do they? This really pisses me off so they won't be getting my money any time soon.

And here's the thing: I bought PSX, I bought PS2, I bought the small PS2 for the missus, I bought PSP. I have Sony Amps, Sony Separates, Sony DVD and Sony Television, Sony Car stereo, I even have a Sony Sky box. I was Mr Sony, but I strongly doubt I'll buy Sony again after the way we've been treated over this, Brand loyalty - what about customer loyalty ?

bloody hell i might just go buy one to stick it on ebay

Yeah the wierd thing is that bid was placed this morning - surely most people know they could have walked into any store this morning and bought one at retail price - even my local Morrisons had 3 on the shelf

I can only guess the bidder misread the details and assumed both were for sale, that is an expensive mistake from the buyer. Who's going to bet a non-paying bid report is going to be made on that listing?

I only saw the NFS page, didn't see the next page link hidden amongst all the ads and crap.

Call of Duty does look better. It should, it's a PC game and a 360 is basically the same technology.

I'd much prefer a Wii out of all three at the moment. More fun in the gaming.

Well, sure enough I bought one - plus a few games, which brought the total to about £640. A friend of my g/f is here for the weekend - and after a blast in the 964 was inclined to buy one game - plus my g/f contributed an unexpected £100.

So am I impressed?

The graphics are pretty good - especially on F1. Was easy to get it on my wireless n/w (which surprised me because on a PS3 forum loads of people seemed to have problems).

I haven't spent more than about 5 mins per game yet, just to see what they looked like (Ridge Racer, F1, Motorsport, Sonic, Resistance Fall of Man). Currently downloading the demo of GT HD and Casino Royal (which I assume is HD).

Is it worth the money?

So far, I must confess I'm not blown away. However - part of my debate was that none of the games appealed that much. I think F1 will grow on me - then we'll see how I feel.

The graphics on GT HD were amazing. You can actually see the texture of the tarmac, irregularities in the road surface, the crowd take photos as you go by and raise their arms to cheer you on.

Looks amazing. The replay is movie quality.

That's one game I will be buying as soon as it's out!

Got one on friday and i'm very content with the system, look great on my HDTV and I am aware that the launch title's don't go anywhere near using the system capabilities so I really can't wait for the titles to be released that use the systems true colours :D

Blu ray look amazing too considering that a blu ray player alone is at least the price of a ps3 I believe it's good value for money.

Been playing Motor Storm and have to say I really like it. Nice graphics, ace sound track.....its a thumbs up ;0)

HD quality films and even standard DVD look very good....

The only downside is the cost of the thing!
