Flipfinger
Got a horrible airbagged steering wheel on my Supra, I want to change it for something a little more stylish (sans air bag) - what do I need to worry about? Airbag lights etc? I want to get rid of the passenger bag too, presumably that's easier?
Eric Kasir
Why on earth would you want to do that?? Not a big fan of driver / passenger safety? Honestly, if involved in a smash I would rather have an airbag there to protect me. Maybe someone does an aftermarket airbag wheel that looks a bit better?? Flipfinger
I sit really close to the steering wheel, an airbag (if they are to go off) would do more damage than good - ruptured spleen etc. And the passenger one is just in case we ever carry the baby in the passenger seat. Plus, having a snap-off boss would be super for security.
Guest Ash
You can get a MOMO wheel and Snap-Off kit. First thing I did with my MKIV is disable the air-bags. Hate the thought of the things. A mate once who had a minor frontal and his bag went off. It came over all white and draped over him. For a moment he thought he'd died and gone to heaven. Flipfinger
Yeah, don't want the added complication of getting shot in the stomach as well as being in a car crash! How difficult is it to disable them? Does it make a light appear on the dash or anything? I too am thinking of the MOMO route, as the chrome gear knob looks oh so sexy already... Guest Ash
Just unplug the things and remove the air-bag warning bulb Yours, J
Guest Terry S
Have you got details of the Snap Off kit you used as I have been trying to get one for an Airbag/Cruise control car for ages.
