My daughter had fastened a clear elastic band around her finger (off a my little pony), she'd had it on for between 12-16 hours, and was only noticed by the child minder after she finished school. Her finger was black, we took her to A&E and the nurses weren't sure what to do, neither was a doctor. So she went to see the plastic surgeon, he came out of theatre to have a look, and thought it would be alright. Just got in a short while ago, as he wanted to see it again before he finished his shift. He said it looked fine, but it developed a massive blister of fluid, so he wanted a vascular surgeon to double check that it was safe to say it was going to be fine. Which he did, to our releif, for a while it was looking as if some of the finger would have to be taken off. Which you don't want happening to any 5 year old let alon your own.
