JustGav
Not sure how many people would be interested in this... Busy going through all my non used IT kit and came across this.. Bought it a while back, and it has been modified (hacked) to be just a little better *grin* It is essentially an item that allows you to plug in a USB harddrive and share it on your home network. The mods that I have done to it include.. 1. De-unclocking it (Yes, linksys released it as a 1/2 speed cpu running at 133mhz, it now runs at the true 266mhz, and has done since day 2 of owning it) 2. Latest unslung firmware - Firmware Version: V2.3R63-uNSLUng-6.8-beta 3. Also installed is ushare which is an open source media server for upnp clients such as the netgear mp101 and the Philips Streamium. I used twonkyvision on it which was very good, but you need to buy it (Around £15 I think).. The item runs linux, and to be fair is pretty good at what it does, but with the opened firmware and the 2nd usb port being home to a 512mb usb drive, there is a whole stack of software you can run on it. http://www.nslu2-linux.org/ More info here... and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSLU2 Looking for £40 with the 512mb stick.
