Pete
I know they look different, but does anyone know if the 17" wheels weigh any different? Would I be silly to put different on the same axle? Is the difference the ridges you can see on the attached pic?
michael
I've had 2 sets of each and the only difference I noticed was the centre caps.
Bobbeh
Has anyone ordered a replacement Toyota wheel? If so did they ask what year it was from? I doubt it. Like Mike says.. just the centers. If there was any difference you'd really notice this when you got your wheels balanced.
Pete
The difference bizarrely is just those ridges. I'm buying another from Jez anyway.
michael
My original UKs had those ridges.
Pete
My original UKs had those ridges. That's right old bean. Apparently facelifts don't.
Bobbeh
That is interesting

Pete
My facelifts did too old bean Interesting. Thanks for the input. I'm confused now. Jez definitely says they're different and I know that Chris Webbly (I think it was him) has said about a difference to me before now too. When I get it I'll post up pics and we'll all be the wiser. Lewis
My facelifts are no different to my old standard wheels pete, sorry if that neither helps nor hinders
Sharpie
Has anyone ordered a replacement Toyota wheel? Yes, I had a slight off in 02 and had a rear wheel replaced by Mr T at the time. The only difference was that there were very fine ridges running the other way to Pete's photo above. See below. Other than that they were identical. It could just be a different supplier to Mr T or an updated mold ??
Pete
YES! Thanks Peter for proving my sanity.
Scooter
check out this old thread.............Willson and I had weighed stock 17" rims with quite different weights...... 22lb and 25lb my results (definitely facelift ones) 24.5lb and 26.5lb Willson's results (unknown type)
Pete
Hmmm. Measured using what though? Scale discrepancies? Would different rubber weigh differently?
Jezz
I'm 100% sure on this now Pete. The facelift wheels although look the same on the rim and face as UK wheels, have no ridges as per your photo in your first post. Quite bizzarre. By tomorrow i'll have both UK and facelift, so no bother.
Scooter
Scale discrepancies? Would different rubber weigh differently? these were 'without tyre' weights............can't comment on Willson but i hung them from fishing scales that weighed in ounce divisions........i'm not claiming to know they are different or not just remembered the discrepancy from way back and thought i'd post it back up
Lewis
I'll check mine in the morning....weird I never noticed?!? I guess it is a really small difference and maybe if you are not looking for it you don't notice it.
Sharpie
Here is what I have on the other side (Original 1995) refurb'd. No ridges bar the BIG one as per Pete's #1 post above.
Jezz
Here is what I have on the other side (Original 1995) refurb'd. No ridges bar the BIG one as per Pete's #1 post above. The ridges Pete and I are reffering to are on the inside edge of the rim, and run all the way from the back of the center of the wheel to the inner edge of the rim. Facelift wheels, although the same as UK wheels, dont seem to have these ridges. I'll try and get some pics to compare tomorrow.
Pete
I'll try and get some pics to compare tomorrow. I think Petes photos have taken care of that mate. Now all we need is a decent set of scales! I suspect it's yet another thing lighter than lardy UK specs
colsoop
I think it would just be a different supplier for the casting of the wheels.
