caliAl
Just ordered it today as I need a break from BF2. Anyone played it and whats your thoughts on it?
Angarak
I played the demo, found the performance to be really poor for the eye candy on offer. Im sure it would be better if you have a decent rig to play it on. Gamewise, it was good, the (enemy) AI was good in the demo, making many a flanking manouver, but the poor performance for me ruined my experience as it was hard to kill someone due to FPS stutter. caliAl
what spec PC have you got?
Gamer
I am an old school Operation Flashpoint player and have run a team for OFP since 2002, we had one of the best records in OFP history. We have now switched over to ArmA and are gearing up for the start of the tournament season. Needless to say I like the game quite a lot. It is not a run and gun type of game and requires some thought, restraint and proper planning to do well. You also need a pretty hefty system to get the best from the game visually. colsoop
I have played the demo but couldn't get in to it. Im more a fps with a little bit of tactical play. What gamer says is spot on it does definitely need more finesse and planning to play this game and enjoy it, oh and a fairly healthily specced gaming rig
Henk
Which game is this? You've shortened the name & I have no idea what it stands for.....
Cable
I am a big big fan of the Flashpoint series. Brilliant games but not for the arcade like shoot 'em up fans. I bought Arma the otehr day from play and received it on Sat. It installed fine but it wont load. It kept on telling me to 'use the original disk not a backup.' But I bloody well am using the original. Also looking forward to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

At any rate, you should update ArmA to version 1.05 and that problem should go away.
Cable
Updated to 1.05 yesterday, no effect. No emulation software either, wouldn't know how to use it if I did have it. I'm gonna try installing it on someone elses computer next and see what happens
silvershark44
I love armed assault!! Plays pretty well on my system. But then again im into building and overclocking my pcs. I always play Coop online, the only i dont like too much is the radio chat, can get a bit annoying as its random words pieced together to make a sentence. Yesturday i lead a hour long assualt behind enemy lines with my squad all playing and fighting like real soldiers. Our mission was to disable the enemy anti air so we could bring in attack choopers. So cool having to hide from tanks and vehicles and really use cunning to take them out. Love it!! I would love to find a decent server though where people play it properly all the time though. Any suggestions Gamer??
Henk
Just downloaded some of the trailers and the graphics look pretty poor, is that so?
silvershark44
Just downloaded some of the trailers and the graphics look pretty poor, is that so? Its really strange, i thought the graphics look shite from pictures. But when you play there actually ok. You need to have shadows on and HDR lighting etc to make it look good though. Any suggestions Gamer?? We have a server up but we password it as it can get out of control when we let the public in. We use it to train for upcoming matches and to play co-op's. Hard for me to tell you which other server to go to as most of the public ones are a bit manic and the maps used on them are not really the best quality. If you hook up with me on MSN messenger ([email protected]) I can give you a shout next time we fire up a co-op and we can see if you have what it takes. Just downloaded some of the trailers and the graphics look pretty poor, is that so? The trailers are not done on a high end machine, the game can be configured via the GFX panel to run at much higher specifications, so much so that it will tax just about any system out there. Carl
I bought this game last week as like others, I loved the original OF. However, upon loading it in, the graphics seem to bring my PC to a stand still. Im running Athlon 3500+, Geforce 6800GT, 2gig ram etc. Anyway, to be fair my computer is in need of a format and that may be giving me performance issues. Has anyone else found this game to really hit there PC. In the mean time I am building a new PC this week, Core Duo E6600, Geforce 8800GTS, 2 gig Ram, Vista, so should sort out any peformance issues. Cant wait to get on it at the weekend.. Carl
Cable
I can only go on Flashpoint as I haven't played Arma yet, that the graphics really aren't an issue when you're playing, as the missions and gameplay are so good. I like online gaming like BF2 and Joint ops but they can all seem a little chaotic and maybe a little pointless. With flashpoint I could sit down and play for hours even days trying to figure out the best routes and techniques to finish the mission. It's more of a thinking mans games. I may try AA again at that point in time.
