Ibrar Jabbar
Hi guy's, I have blown both turbo's on my car, don't ask how!! I have spent this afternoon removing them of the manifold, what a job! On inspection the blades have chipped around the edges. Can anybody put me in touch with anybody who can rebuild them? or is it worth buying second hand turbo's for £700? I can take some digi pics if anybody wants to see the damage.
mark brown
You could try Turbo Dynamcs in Portsmouth or otherwise Turbo Technics. I reckon the cost will be more than the £700 for 2nd hand turbos although at least if they are overhauled you will know exactly what you have got. Have you considered getting the turbos hybridised while they are being overhauled?
GavinL
Hi.... Leon Green was selling a set of Hybridised MKIV Turbo's at £800.00 each as I recall. I don't know how far they have been tweeked though. Gavin

Branners
I would like to see the pictures. Your best bet is to talk to Leon, he is continually developing hybrid turbos and can get stock turbos rebuilt to steel internals for about £500 each, or hybridised with bigger everything for about £700 each. He even has a set sitting in his garage ready for such a situation, I saw them there the other day when I was perusing his current stock. The other option is to tell Leon what you really want the car to do, ie huge top end and bugger all low down, and he can get the turbos built to meet that requirement. sorry to hear that they blew, thats not going to help you pay for the house move. Doughie
C'mon Ibrar, what were the circumstances please? What boost were you running ? what revs ? What gear ? Ambient temp. ? When did you last change the oil ? Which oil ? Did you switch off when they were red-hot recently ? Any info like this that you can give may help the rest of us from having hte same unfortunate experience.

Ibrar Jabbar
I will put some pictures in the smartgroups album some time this week. I have managed to locate a set of UK spec turbos and manifold, so I think I will be going for them. I will be selling my car soon, simply because I need the spare cash as a deposit for a house, so this turbo saga hasn't helped :-( All going well, I will be fitting them myself this weekend, I will let You know how I get on.
