Ark
Chaps, I'm half way through installing my Defis - I wired the controller into the clock loom - and wanted to test how successful we had been so far... I have obviously got power to the unit, because it will illuminate on the lighting circuit. However, the one gauge I plugged in does nothing...remember I have NO sensors attached yet. Is this normal? Will it start working when I attach a suitable sensor for that particular gauge? Thanks
merckx
Dunno, I've got a couple of Defi's with a controller. Try plugging the sensor cable into the controller, it won't matter that the sensor isn't fitted on the engine.
Lee P
It should come on without the sensor, make sure you have it plugged in the right place on the control unit. Lee
RobSheffield
I installed my defi BF guages, all fully wired, but one of the 3 wasnt connected to the sensor....it lit up but didnt move and a red light was on it flashing constantly.
qaisar
yeah the sensor for my boost gauge went, the gauge would light up with a flashing red light, replaced the sensor and all was good again
Ark
Hmm, I tried plugging the sensor in...still no joy. One thought though - this is a facelift car. Does the analogue clock on a facelift use a different voltage? The wires on the back are certainly a different colour to what I expected. (pin 2 is Red with yellow stripe, not just red; pin 5 is white with green stripe, not blue with red stripe). The other two wires are as expected, and the illumination does work. I haven't got a multimeter to check this, so I think I'm going to buy one when the shops open tomorrow.
merckx
this is a facelift car. Does the analogue clock on a facelift use a different voltage? It doesn't, still 12v. I used the power supply from the radio, everything is there including the illumination wire.
Ark
For the benefit of anyone who might be interested, facelift Supras DO NOT have al four wires required, hanging off the back of the clock. There are: Red with yellow stripe - appears to be permanent + ==> Defi Red wire White with black stripe - permanent - ==> Defi black wire White with green stripe - ????? ==> XXXX do not use Green with orange stripe - illumination circuit ==> Defi white wire To get my ignition switched +, I tapped onto the ciggy lighter "blue with red stripe" wire with the Defi Orange wire. Problem solved.
