mathew
if you declare points midway through your year (or 10 months) of your insurance can they demand the extra cost from you even if you have already paid your premium off in one lump sum? ive read on a few forums that they just up your quote come renewal time
jamesmark
Depends on what is in the small print. Insurance companies can do what the hell they want. Best people to ask is your insurance company after all if you have not told them about the 3 points and you have a smash tomorrow then your insurance will be null in void. Usually insurance companies do not care about 3 points now and only go for serious road offenders or people with a lot of points.

Kieran
Not sure, but it probably depends on how many points and what they're for. I told my insurers about the 3 points I got for speeding a few months in to my policy and they didn't want anymore money off me - just told me that my renewal might go up a bit. Jake
if you have not told them about the 3 points and you have a smash tomorrow then your insurance will be null in void. No, that's not right. You'd still be insured.
jamesmark
No, that's not right. You'd still be insured. Would it not be third party only though. After all you legally have to inform your insurance company of any changes that may affect your premium and points fall into that category. You'd still be legally covered but they wouldn't pay anything out to you. I wasn't suggesting it was a good idea, just that it doesn't make the insurance null and void, as a lot folks think. mathew
so im guessing then if your car got nicked they wouldnt have to pay out
Havard
so im guessing then if your car got nicked they wouldnt have to pay out I'd just give them a ring tomorrow mate and log what they say, I'd also ask for a letter to that effect too. I know you only have 2 months left but if the car gets nicked you'll be screwed. Insurance companies will find anyway of not paying out, so you have to be squeaky clean. I would be surprised is there is not something in the small print about this issue!! H.
Guest gzaerojon
when i changed address with my insurance company then charged me an extra £10 (cheeky feckers) as it was a higher risk at my new place, the funny part was it was only a 2 min walk from my old place
