RedM
What's funny? I wouldn't swap my Tosh for any plasma under 5k. Have a search on here. Plenty of people still rate old tellys.

RedM
Only messing fella, although would be difficult to find a CRT in a high street store nowadays Absolutely. Yo can't persuade people to buy 'the future' when 'the past' looks better for less.
DaveK
Absolutely. Yo can't persuade people to buy 'the future' when 'the past' looks better for less. Actually - the evidence suggests that for most people (including me) you can. CRT is better - I don't know of anybody that would disagree. But it would be hard to buy one these days so people are moving to the future even though it's not as good (at least picture wise). For me, the convenience of being able to mount my TV on the wall balances the fact that the picture is not as good as CRT (but obviously the picture has to reach a certain acceptable standard). Guest StevenSheen
Personally I dont think plasma offers a better picture then LCD as long as you get a good one, a good sony V or W series will give you some awesome results when hooked up to the right devices. At the end of the day it all depends what your hooking it up to. I had a Hitachi plasma with very good reviews but but plasma's often suffer from smeering on some inputs making things look like an oil painting, with an xbox 360 connected via the HD VGA cable you arent gonna beat something like the Sony V series for image quality...Stick gears of war on in HD and it will drop your jaw as will Sky HD. Plasma and games consoles dont mix I know from personal experiance...you dont have to pause a game...things like health bars and static meters on screen during games never change and can cause burn in during normal play...its a flawed tech IMO. My other half forgot to turn the Sky and TV off one night and when I realised 5 hours later I forever had the sky channel information box imprinted over everything as a ghost lol....never again:blink:
DaveK
Comparing my panasonic LCD to my friends plasma with the same source (Sky +) seemed a reasonable comparison.
Guest StevenSheen
Oh by the way check this sites reviews out there quite handy http://www.homecinemachoice.com/ Anything from Sony or Pioneer should be great but the latters a bit pricey for the budget i think. What I meant was that you can't buy one in stores these days as they wouldn't be able to shift plasma and lcd sets if there was a CRT pumping out a gorgeous pic next to them. If you prevent people (who may know better, like you say) from being able to buy them then you create a new standard by default.
