sarjo
Ok, new fuel filter obtained, will change this later today. Would be good to check the igniter pack too - anyone please tell me where this is (or am I being thick!!)
Wez
AEM's can "lose" their maps as well, ask Michel his aem dumped his map and the car wouldn't start properly and ran lumpy. If you have a copy of the map can you re-install that?? Really?
imi
Really? Yeah, I was surprised when I read that too......an ECU running a critical function for the car losing its map......Does it run windows?

sarjo
Had a quick look at the car this morning. Now have a problem with the alarm - re-connected the battery and there was a fuzzing coming from the alarm siren in the engine bay even with the alarm on or off. This fuzzing continues even after all the ignition is off and the alarm has been set. Is this a sign of a faulty siren, or a fault on the whole alarm system, in which case if this could be an imobiliser problem, would it restrict petrol to the fpr? Ric
Yes, imoblisation depends on which they have used, usually its IGN and Fuel pump feed.
sarjo
Yes, imoblisation depends on which they have used, usually its IGN and Fuel pump feed. Fuel pumps are still working (at least I can hear them from inside the car) and all lights show up on ignition. Pumps are working (you can hear the rumble of the pump) but cant hear the gushy sound of fluid passing through. Its just started raining here now so waiting for it to stop then will dismantle the boot and have a look at the pumps inside the tank.
sarjo
16psi? that is way low right? worth just trying another fpr to see if it helps? Thinking that way myself.
Ian C
Matt Harwood has always said that a dodgy alarm/immobiliser can lead to all sorts of problems with the car not starting. Perhaps there is a good place to investigate as well... -Ian

Sorry if I came across argumentative I certainly didn't mean to. Its sometimes worth mentioning stuff like this as often problems like this are something like a dodgy ignitor pack or an imobilisor thats playing up or an aem playing up. The more funny little things you can check yourself the more chance you have of finding the problem. Taking an imobilisor out of the loop and swapping out ignitor packs are jobs that can be easily done in situ as is reloading an aem map IMO worth a punt before attempting a lowloader to a garage??? sarjo
THE CAR IS NOW BACK ON THE ROAD AND YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE . . . . . Thanks to everyone for their input on this. My supra hasn't started since 16th December but today after sussing out the problem, started first turn and ran soooo smoothly I couldn't believe she hadnt moved for four months. I finally traced the problem back to the fuel tank. Sitting in the car I could hear the fuel pumps priming but couldnt hear the whoosh of petrol rushing through the hoses. After dismantling the fuel pump carrier I found two problems. Firstly the hose feed in the carrier had split at the bottom and was hanging very loosely. I guess this meant that some petrol was being drawn up, but not enough to get her going (hence the very low fuel pressure). Secondly I had two poor electrical connections (which may or may not have been doing anything) which I repaired. Put her back together and couldnt believe she started first turn of the key. So I now have very clean plugs, some re-soldered and cleaned electrical connections, a new fuel filter and a new fpr (which I didnt need as my old one was perfect and is now available to buy at a good price). Thank you for all your help and advice, and thanks to Nic for a VERY fast supply of a new fpr. Guess what's next - a full clean & polish tomorrow and a good run
