Four months later - car still not started!

Sorry guys, but am after some more advice . . . .

Last time I drove the supe I parked up outside PC world, came out and the car wouldnt re-start. Thought it might have been out of petrol so canned up to £15 worth. Car turned over and spluttered, started with lots of right foot pumping but wouldnt hold the revs and kept cutting. Managed to get home (only just) courtesy of the AA and after advise from you guys checked fuel lines - fuel is getting through to the engine but only coming through the fpr at 16psi (although not sure if this is faulty as petrol spurts through quite fast and freely), cleaned plugs but they werent that bad and were sparking.

With limited mechanical knowledge I decided to seek help and have asked numerous local mechanics who will not touch a modified supra (bloody seaside devon).

Problem is, car wont start, turns over but doesnt fire, its auto so cant get towed further afield to a garage elsewhere, no mechanics locally will look at it and its so bloody low I cant get it onto a loader very easily so garages wont move it for me.

Can anyone please help out with any suggestions that I might be able to check through myself. I'm guessing the next thing maybe the O2 sensor but am not sure where the hell to start looking for that? Also, am I right in thinking if it was an alarm/immobiliser problem then I wouldnt get any spark at the plugs?

Anything greatfully received, alternatively anyone want to buy a car? :(

Who mapped it? have you a screenshot of the map?

Car was mapped before my ownership so couldnt tell you who did it. I might have the latest map, I'll have a look.

Wouldnt have thought it would be a mapping problem if it was running fine before and nothing has been changed???

Ok, I cant find the map that is being used on the car. It must be on my laptop which is at work.

I've got AA relay, they originally brought me home but it took them 45 mins and a lot of scraping to get it on. I havent got homestart so they wont move it from here.

Towing eye would be good ...... lol , Interested in why ya can't tow an auto ... just for future referance ;)

Sorry, I dont know the answer to that. Also tried pushing the car earlier this morning and the brakes have stuck on. It just keeps getting worse.

Do a compression test to rule out head gasket. It may sound extreme but we have a car in the moment that was exactly the same, and Kev.O has the same problem too.

Other than that, check the cog on the crank to see if its come away from the larger cog - this will cause exactly the same issues (the crank position sensor reads the outer cog, it comes away from the smaller one there will be no reading).

Requires stripping the radiator, covers off, crank pulley etc.

Gaz.

2 things i would do

1 disconnected the igniator pack clean the connections with some electrical cleaner

2 i would say you most prob have a faulty fpr is it a aeromotive as the springs are know too stick and 16psi is way low

if its a aeromotive on top there is a nut back this off and rotate the shaft with a alklen key this should free it off then rest the correct pressure if the car the idles correctly

If its sparking OK and the fuel pressure is deemed by people that know more than me to be low surely the fuel is the more likely reason why its not working right? You aren't meant to tow auto's any distance but again I don't know why (google should answer that). AEM's can "lose" their maps as well, ask Michel his aem dumped his map and the car wouldn't start properly and ran lumpy. If you have a copy of the map can you re-install that??

That's the first I've heard about an Aeromotive being "known" to stick, cite your sources ;)

If your fuel pressure is too low then you've probably got a blockage in your fuel filter. That's easy enough to check without going mad with AEM maps and low loaders or buggering up your FPR setting while stabbing in the dark... It's also a plausible reason for it to suddenly stop working.

If the fuel pressure is too low, then may be the FPR isn't causing a big enough restriction to get the required pressure. He does say that fuel is flowing freely through it....

As your last post regarding this, I suggest that you first change the FPR to get a known good unit in to see if it increases.

Also, as a second suggestion for the low pressure, are both of your pumps working? If one was not working, the fuel could be allowed to return to the tank via the 2nd feed, depends how you have got them piped.
