pistonbroke
Decided to check my subframe bolts today as I've no record of having them done, I spoke to the guy who works on my car and he's never touched them, so jacked the car up, here are the bolts in question that need to be tightened to 125Nm's (ITS THE 2 BOLTS FACING DOWS TOWARDS THE CAMERA, THERE ARE 4 BOLTS IN TOTAL, TWO EITHER SIDE OF THE CAR, YOU'LL NEED A DEEP 17MM SOCKET TO TIGHTEN THEM ) As you can see from the condition of the car, its been very well maintained, its certainly not a dog. So I recommend you get out and check yours out before your engine falls out. I then decided to polish my headlights and they came out pretty good, got rid of most the yellowish, the rest of which is on the inside of the lense. Then, I fitted my chrome rad pipe with my new mikalor clamps after the original clamps let it leak, but the bugger still leaked, I think the blue parts of the hose are just crap and dont fit properly, so I'll be getting some samco stuff in the near future. Daston
looking good chap, did you manage to jack the cat up that high with just the sissor jack??? I am always worried about it falling over lol
RobSheffield
Nice one Might i suggest that you pop a circle round the bolts you need to tighten, cos its the upper 2 in that picture, not the one on the arm

Rory
Does tightening these bolts make any difference to the vibration felt when the car is in drive with foot on brake and idling ?
pistonbroke
Rory, your problem, I'm certain, is your N/S engine mount. Common problem on the supe.
Pot
Cheers for the advice, I'll get Jody to check them next time I see him...
Homer
Subframe bolts is a basic service item but gets missed by almost every garage. Along with a full service it should be one of the first things to check when you get your Supra
Matt _Aero top_
Id also check the 19mm bolts to thats abit futher back than the 17's , And if ya know where to look people its not nessary to jack the car up , And are you sure the 17's should be 199 nm i thought that was the 19mm

Matt _Aero top_
Yep just checked in a old thread , the 17mm should be 125 Nm or 92 ft-lb and the 19mm should be 200 Nm or 148 ft-lb , Never mind though fella they didn't shear off and they'll never come loose again so thats a bonus , gonna check mine again soon
Matt _Aero top_
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=67799&highlight=front+frame Think this should work
pistonbroke
Damn it, I was looking at Ianc's old post with the torque settings, which are unclear and relate to upper arm torque settings to the subframe, not the subframe itself, it would appear you are quite correct Matt. Thx. I have changed the settings on the front first page so as not to let people go out and shear off bolts. I'll do tyhe 4 19's today as well, don't know how i missed them. Matt _Aero top_
You may find you can only find 6 x 19mm bolts ... 3 either side , don't know why it says 8 in the picture but i could only find
pistonbroke
Well, after driving her around today, its made quite a noticable difference, my suspension feels less crashy. Highly reccommended bit of cheap maintenance.
