absz
at the time of test, if the tester fiqures out the engine code ie 2JZGTE and enters it into the computer then it will require a cat test. when i had mine tested the engine code was set to default so no cat test required;)
uksupra
Unless you know a "friendly" MOT centre you will need at least 1 cat in is that a visual inspection?? surley a car that passes emissions with or without a cat is a car that passes emissions??? MrAngry
The garage I took my car too last week for it's MOT didn't do any emissions tests either. I hadn't mentioned anything to them about not doing it, as it's still got both cats.

Marty
my mot man said aslong as it passes the emissions he wont look for a cat which is now a 3" downpipe just need to run a lean map for the emissions test, between 2-3k revs. Has to be over 0.97 lamba, which 'i think' is about 14.5 afr. G-NEMIE
mine also said "if it was manufactured with cats its LIKELY it would require them to pass the MOT" "doesnt matter if its an import, if it drives on our roads its tested by our mot rules". but also said the emmisions test goes off the age of the car. make sure its been for a good hard drive first good luck
