Hopefully simple question... re. mot's and cats

at the time of test, if the tester fiqures out the engine code ie 2JZGTE and enters it into the computer then it will require a cat test. when i had mine tested the engine code was set to default so no cat test required;)

my mot man said aslong as it passes the emissions he wont look for a cat :D which is now a 3" downpipe ;) just need to run a lean map for the emissions test, between 2-3k revs. Has to be over 0.97 lamba, which 'i think' is about 14.5 afr.

mine also said "if it was manufactured with cats its LIKELY it would require them to pass the MOT"

"doesnt matter if its an import, if it drives on our roads its tested by our mot rules".

but

also said the emmisions test goes off the age of the car.

 

make sure its been for a good hard drive first
