Chris Wilson
Porsche day, but have got an entry with the old RWD Skyline, anyone going? Had a nightmare as when I came to fit some new front discs, ready to roll on new bells, the spigot hole in the new bells was a tad too tight. My fault, I made them I suspected the new discs were iffy as I ran them for 3 laps last year and they juddered, so I had them surface ground. I didn't want to disturb the old discs and bell set up, as despite being a bit cracked (Donington in the wet the other day killed them...) they don't judder. So I had to open up the holes. The set up was too big for my small lathe at home, so I had to mount them on the Bridgeport and use a boring head to do them. I am pretty poor on a milling machine and it took far too long. Tried them up the road a bit ago and they still judder. PITA, I should have sorted this long before 12 hours before leaving. Can see me swapping the danged things over again at Oulton and seeing if the cracked ones last the day, which will be touch and go. I have a retirement home here for cracked and generally mullered AP and Alcon discs here, I must weigh the things in!
Pete
Have fun! Hope the weather holds out. Sounds like brakes have a hard life with you. Don't think I'll make that novice day. I'm spending too much this month with Supra insurance, Tiger Tax and an active spoiler (I know, useless weight gain but I fancy one). Might be better if it was wet, I managed to put the thing into the barriers in the DRY last time there.... Jane's gone on some fancy meal out tonight, so she can't say much, and she's got a load of stuff on the agenda for Terry and I this wekend, so sod it, I'm going!!! So what's this car tax malarkey then.....?

Pete
So what's this car tax malarkey then.....? Particularly gutting at £180 for about 1500 miles or less a year. You can tell Roger I've got Vista running on his PC - it's damn quick as well.

If they need re-machining Chris I could probably sort those, I do know how to use a boring bar and Bridgeport . Well you already know that. Chris Wilson
Had a good day at Oulton, dry weather, hardly any stoppages (a race GT3 RS into the pitwall, and another blew up big time and left oil 1/2 way around the circuit causing a 35 minute stoppage for cement dust to be put down). There was a stellar fast Mazda FD there, with a single turbo and an obviously well sorted chassis on 888 tyres, that quite frankly left me eating his dust. He was about my own age, too. It's rekindled my interest in them, and he certainly wound some of the very fastest Porsche lot up My pal Pip Gardener did the engine, I am going to bell him later to find out just what sort of grunt it had, the owner guessed at 400 flywheel BHP
Chris Wilson
What sort of Bridgeport is it Chris?? A conventional one?? Old, a bit tired, but with a 2 axis DRO, which helps with the backlash! Just bought some cheap used bits and bobs for it, an el cheapo none automatic boring head, and a rotary table. Would like it overhauled and CNC'd but can't justify the expense at all.
