edge
I just changed two connectors on the coils packs as they had basicly disintergrated but the other 4 were ok but i will change the rest when i get a full day to myself. The misfire/hesitation seems to have disapeared but when accelerating in 2nd or 3rd with number 2 tubbie engaged i still sometimes get a small tiny blip but does not happen all the time. Apparently the sparkplugs were new about 1000 miles ago. I also cleaned out the throttle body as there was a bit of gunk build up. Am i being paranoid as im getting used to the cars little niggles and noises?
Ric
If you getting a misfire under full boost it could be the spark plugs are the wrong heat range. Have a look at the spark plug FAQ for recommendations
edge
Paul whiffin put new ones in when he got the car. Cant find the old advert to see what ones he used.
Ric
If paul did it they would be the right ones... Perhaps is the dodgy coil pack connector, try nipping up the connectors so they are on the pins more solidly, did this on mine, and not had any problems thus far
edge
I checked all the pins etcwhen i put the new ones on. So when i get a spare minute i will - Take the plugs out and have a look for any ill signs - Double check the connectors again after replacing the other 4. Anything else? edge
Also i havnt yet got a FCD fitted yet. will this make any difference to that blip i get or just the main fuel cut ? Also the cars Fully decatted, apexi filter running 1 bar
Ric
Ah you didnt say that. Full boost at 1 bar will engage fuel cut after 3seconds of 1bar Also if the car was fully decatted when you baught it check with paul to see if he put in spark plugs with the correct heat rating at 1bar. You will know whats fuel cut and what is a misfire. fuel cut stops everything and the warning on the dash lights for a few seconds, misfire is just a small loss of power/hesitation for a split second
edge
Ok will do. Yeah i know when the fuel cut kicks in but wasnt sure if this had anything to do with the blip Thanks.
Ric
the blip will be dodgy coil connection or wrong heat range of plug
