Rear Shock - easy to replace?

Hi all

Got some replacement rear shocks being delivered tomorrow for my N/A manual. Have had a look under the arch, and in the boot above them... quick question - how easy are the shocks to replace? Is this something I can do with the correct tools and a 'proper' jack? Or is it garage time?

Cheers

It's very easy to get the strut off the car but it's not quite so easy to change the springs. Make sure you know exactly what you're doing first. You wouldn't be the first guy to kill himself trying to change a suspension spring.

Fantastic, you can do mine Lee! I'll even pay you for the full hour! :D

I've done loads of them when I worked at K***F** as a youngster but I'd rather not do one without all the proper gear (Good spring compressors and a windy gun being the minimum requirement for me)

K***F**, yeah yeah, got to start somewhere mate. :D

Sometimes you can't get the centre nut on top of the strut undone without a windy-gun because the shaft will just spin around inside the body of the shocker. Maybe that's not a problem on Supras, I don't know.

i have had that problem on other cars but didnt this time and agreed that can be a right pain in the ass. the shaft has flats on it though so you can stop it turning when you undo the locknut.
