carl0s
I'm not gonna resort to a headset either I'll just wait til I can afford to have a full handsfree kit fitted to the car. I had a Clarion Bluetooth kit hooked up to my Clarion head unit. I also had a Parott kit, but this wanted to intercept the factory speaker wiring via the ISO loom, which is no good as I have aftermarket amps & wiring. Anyway.. they're shite. Nobody could hear me with the road noise of the Supra, and I struggled to hear the other party. Also, I have TomTom on my phone, and when the phone is connected to the bluetooth handsfree, all the TomTom instructions go over bluetooth. So you just can't listen to the radio as it keeps getting interrupted by the phone/TomTom. Now I have this earpiece, it's fabulous. I can have the radio on, and all my TomTom instructions come through the earpiece. Cool.
Ian R
The thing with smoking, or eating, or drinking a soft drink, or any other actvity whilst driving would come under driver not having proper control of a motor vehicle. When mobiles 1st became widespread in their usage, that was the legislation used for dealing with drivers using a mobile, but the prosecution have to show how the driver didn't have proper control etc, so it's a harder offence to prove. Its easier now to prove driving whilst using a mobile, but you can still be done for not in proper control. With current anti tobacco legislation slowly being introduced, then I would be surprised in future that it will become an offence in it's own right. Smoking when driving isn't dangerous though is it ?? I do not need to concentrate on smoking a cigarette in fact I am smoking one now as I type. However I would find it hard to do so if I was on a mobile phone whilst typing this message
Charlotte
Yep, that does sound weird... I don't know what it is, I just find it weird talking to someone in an ear piece and driving. Maybe it's remembering an era when nobody had mobiles. Or maybe it's because nobody ever phones me. sniff... Excuse me I'm not that old! RobSheffield
So, is a fully fitted, in car, bluetooth handsfree kit similar to the Parrot ones illegal?
AndrewOW
I just can't understand what could be so important you need to be on the phone while driving? Just wait until you get to where you're going. When you're driving you should be concentrating on one thing, driving IMHO. Hands free kits are not that much better than a normal mobile I think, you're still distracted. Agreed
Daston
Smoking when driving isn't dangerous though is it ?? However a Mobile dosnt have the risk of burning your balls if you drop it. I am amazed you guys can hear your ring tones over the sound of the supra?? I normaly leave any call/txt when I am driving if its important they will leave a message or call again
tbourner
When I'm due to pick the missus up from work at 5, if I'm running a few minutes late (which is common) she always rings to see where I am - where am I likely to be except driving!!!!! Pete
Smoking when driving isn't dangerous though is it ?? Be honest, how many times have you dropped one by accident or gone to flick it out the window for it to get sucked back in by the air? Both hands should be on the wheel. Which I think is discrimination - how do one armed people get away with this? What about one armed smokers?

I used to know someone who regularly texted while driving That really wound me up.
tbourner
I have txt'd before whilst driving, and taken my coat off (anyone seen Planes Trains and Automobiles? )!! Don't any more though - it's a bit silly.
bolarbag
Trying to take your coat of while being hugged by a recaro is like trying to escape from a Mental Jacket! Not that I've tried!
Guest blueangel
I fit hands free kits all day long and so far the parrot kit is about as good as it gets

merckx
I have now stopped using my mobile when driving, not worth the risk now points are likely So does that mean that you were once a dickhead that couldn't give a toss about the safety of others and you would still use the phone whilst driving if it wasn't for the fact you could now get points on your licence if you were caught? merckx
I think that's a bit harsh. Please explain why?
Charlotte
Please explain why? Because he didn't exactly state what he meant before you charged in and called him a d*ckhead, it's not very polite that's all.
merckx
He made it very clear, he's stopped using a phone because of the risk of getting points on his licence! a dickhead that couldn't give a toss about the safety of others Isn't this a good description of all people that use their phone whilst driving? tbourner
I always used to use it whilst driving and have stopped now it's 'more' illegal. Well, when I say always, I mean whenever anyone phoned, which wasn't often! But when they did (say once ever 2 weeks ish) I'd pick it up and talk to them - now I won't. Good on you for changing your ways! And I'd say that's a good example of harsher penalties working.... and people becoming more responsible. *Major generalisation coming up and not aimed at anyone in particular* - The consequences of their actions don't seem to put most people off (i.e. killing someone) but getting 3 points on their licence do! tbourner
People never expect it'll be them that would kill someone though - we all like to think we're good drivers and can cope with driving at the same time as; adjusting the radio, talking to a passenger, talking on a phone, eating a burger, trying to find something on the back seat, trying to find something in the boot!! If we knew without question that those actions would kill someone just as we know that they will get us points, people wouldn't do it. dibbleyuk
You must've missed the Police programme that was on last night. There was a bloke driving a 7 tonne truck on a dual carriageway, he was fiddling around with the phone that was fitted in the vehicle. He ploughed straight into a line of stationery traffic which was queing to leave at the next junction, he didn't even apply the brakes. The driver of the car he hit was killed instantly - a 23 year old young lady. Her car was crushed to less than half of it's original length . They showed the traffic policeman going to her home to break the devastating news to her family, her mother answering the door! Ive seen that before mate was horrible to watch certainly did make me think twice... also what made me laugh when the officer was on his way back the women on her phone in the traffic jam he stoped and had ago at her, he was abit tence and wound up after that wasnt he! dont blame him wouldnt be a nice thing to do!
