M4RK RZ
Dont normaly post off toipc , but last night I was watching some sort of reality show - follow up of a repeat with other added not seen stuff. Cast away, Wife Swap,Big Brother,Salon,Jades PA, Jades mum,The wag's, X factor 1 to 9, Come dancing, Ice skating celebs etc etc etc etc etc............. And I realised - good TV has totaly gone for the main 80% is crap - total crap. Reality shows Reality Shows - only things that people with no social skills watch. Not to mention the quiz channels that have even started to appear on the normal 1-5 channels !!! Our Licence money is going on these spoilt idiots who act the fool and give us little/no viewing pleasure imoa .......... the rest went on the Top Gear rocket launch ! JustGav
Yup.. fully agree... I've got a V+ plus box and 2 media centres, allowing me to record 5 channels at once, and guess what... there is nothing on that I really watch anyway.. My list consists of Las Vegas, American Idol and Hereos, all of which I get ahead of season from a US source.... And yeah, we pay £90/month for nothing.... Video on demand is the way to go, but will any of the media companies offer it, well virgin are starting to, hence the reason I've stuck with them.. After years of having PVR's.. I've learnt to hate adverts (and hence never watch real time telly) and to expect everything in AVI formats..
Jake
The license money all goes to the BBC. All the other channels make their money through advertising and charging dumb people to vote by phone or to enter the ridiculously easy quizzes. IMO the BBC is the best broadcaster of TV and radio in this country by a mile and probably in the whole world. The lack of commercial breaks on BBC channels makes it almost worth the license fee alone.
M4RK RZ
I must admit the BBC are the best also in my opinion - but im talking about the trend of TV not individual as such. It seems were all happy with accepting mindless time wasting programs - in all fairness - teach you nothing / nor stimulate. How many times have you watched a full program and when the credits come up thought "that was crap" ? What a waste of time !

Schtuv
Our Licence money is going on these spoilt idiots who act the fool and give us little/no viewing pleasure imoa : Ummm ... isn't our license money going towards 'quality BBC televisual programming', while the time we spend watching adverts between reality TV shows is going to pay for Jade Goodys shoes? Totally agree with you, though - TV is really going downhill. Personally I'd be happy with less choice and better quality than the mindless, repetitive, repetitive, 'reality', 'fly-on-the-wall', over opinionated, 'bargain-of-the-century', American, carp (minding what Mawby said about bad language) set to appeal to the lowest common denominator that we're offered nowadays. Rob
It seems were all happy with accepting mindless time wasting programs - in all fairness - teach you nothing / nor stimulate. ! My wife laps that stuff up, yet I keep trying to get her to watch intelligent programmes that teach you somnething about the world. There are lots of good progs on Discovery, but it's kind of blokes telly like "When Bridges Explode", "Extreme Canalboats" or "Shooting Dogs from Helicopters with Andy McNab" I'll go mad if I have to watch another overweight person poo into a tupperware box and be told that eating mong beans and nettle soup is better than a pizza and chips. M4RK RZ
I try and watch Discovery, but it gets turned off by 'her'. hahaha - 'her' There was the worst program on the other day so far - something like "spot the gay guy" where this lass had to date some blokes and see if she knew who was who etc.. etc... The thing is all you need to do is go down the local to see that stuff live lol So can someone explain - everyone if they have a TV should pay there licence fee by law - so if you dont watch/receive the BBC? just sky? Is it just because you have something capable of receiving the BBC so are deemed to watch it? or am I being blonde.
tbourner
AFAIK it's a licence to recieve transmissions - so wherever you pick up a signal that has a viewable channel coming through you HAVE to have a licence otherwise it's illegal.

tbourner
.... the BBC. But that's only because it was set up a LOOOONG time ago and never changed. The fact that you pay for a 'license' that 'licenses' you to do something hasn't changed.

Rob
Anyway, tonight, telly straight onto 5 and it's a progamme about some huge 7 year old russian kid. I forced her to watch QI instead, which she seemed to enjoy, but I swear, every night it's "Ooh, there's a good programme on at 9 on Ch4, it's about this woman who gets cancer and dies really slowly" "oh great, that'll be fun." There was one about a little girl who's bones were all fusing together. In the end she had to stand outside a newsagents collecting money for guide dogs.
