mikeyb10supra
205 with Mi16 engine you could spend your change on a nice set of carbs etc I had one and it was nothing short of amazing and never once did I get bored of it

AJI
if you are wanting a bit of fun then deffinitely go for rear wheel drive. For even more fun get something with a rear LSD. MX5, 200sx, 300zx?, NA Supra, MR2, AE86 Corrola?, old shaped BMWs, etc. etc. Not sure which of the above have LSDs as stock on them though. colsoop
I would get a little hot hatch, saxo vts, 205 gti,106 rallye then gut it fit more supportive seats and you are set

Sheefa
Skyline GTS, CW one seemed pretty good on track at Donny Yep - what Wez said! It was bloody amazing and despite only being 2wd, handled like the dogs goolies.......although that was with some pro driving and life snatching maneouvering from Chris. AJI
Just remembered about the Sierra XR4i, usually very cheap to get hold of, they definitely have an LSD fitted as stock and with a stiff suspension set up they are a real laugh. For 4K you could buy the car, fit a cage, seats, few engine/exhaust mods and a set of trackday tyres.... only downside is that they are a bit thirsty. But for cheap money you get a nice handling RWD car that is easy to work on and repair if anything goes wrong.
kslb
Thanks AJI sounds good, but my blood is red as the sun, think i will stick to jap side of life I know its a bit narrow minded but can't bring myself to buy a ford no matter how good they really are. Sorry. Thanks for the input though.
Guest mk47
As said before go for a pulsar gti-r. you could get one for around 3k, and they are fast, handle very well and lotssss of fun!
Gaz Walker
As said before go for a pulsar gti-r. you could get one for around 3k, and they are fast, handle very well and lotssss of fun! They are very unreliable though, I have one customer now on his 4th engine and 6th gearbox! The brakes are horrendous as well. Gaz.
martin_a
Same motor as 200sx isn't it? What do you want to do with it? Go drifiting or just go racing? m.
Gaz Walker
Same motor as 200sx isn't it? Yes, but it has poorer cooling, mounted differently, there are differences to the engine and box. Regards, Gaz.
martin_a
Yes, but it has poorer cooling, mounted differently, there are differences to the engine and box. Regards, Gaz. Might explain the dodgy reliability then. Motor is well tuneable though and largely reliable (assuming it is in a 200sx and not a GTI-R by the look of it) m. Rob Dublin
If it's just a track car you're after I'd go the Westfield/Caterham route and save up for a turbo'd Hayabusa engine.
Chewie
I've often thought about buildng a track day car. You turn up on a trailer. Totally gutted, just two seats, perspex windows, no trim. No tax, no insurance, etc. Something that's going to be cheap, easy to repair cos you're not going to afraid of scraping a wing. Saw something at Japfest a few years ago and the guy was using NOS and left alot of other cars behind. Blew the engine but didn't care cos he had fun and it was cheap. |It was ancient. Haven't a clue except it wasn't a Supe, Skyline, Scooby, Evo, etc
