razza
on way back from training, was getting close to jnc 10 and there was signs saying 50mph in 3/4 mile. I was still having a bit of a heavy right foot as it wasn't 50 yet.... then out of nowhere (no road lights), and thank #### for his luminous jacket, a workman decides to play chicken with me and legs it from the central reservation to the hard shoulder[ANGRY][/ANGRY] he was bloody lucky, and me to that fact, that I didn't hit him, because if I did I would surely have lost it totally and he would've been long gone. It really @!$$€# me off as he was not only playing silly buggers with his own life but that of others as well. It's not as if he wouldn't have seen me either with the HIDs on. Felt like pulling over and having a word, which would've have been good as I was still fired up from training....

creative
I had this the other night on the M1. About 3am and no cones etc out Work support vehicle on the hard shoulder with his yellows flashing, a truck in the first lane and me in the middle. now im watching the flashing suport vehicle and the truck as he was moving into the middle lane so he didnt pass to close to the one on the hard shoulder.... no worries, I pull into the fast lane, watch truck pull over into middle lane then i proceeded to shite a brick, as stood in the fast lane with 2 of the dirtiest safety jackets on in the world were 2 workman!!!! Hard on the anchors and pulled in behind the truck, but WTF where they doing without any signs etc stood in the fast lane!!!!!
Kranz
One of the most dangerous jobs working on the motorways..... Especially if you don't follow the safety procedures regarding crossing live lanes!!
markymark
I get this all the time at night when I'm in the lorry, they run out in front of you with their signs under one arm trying to make the other side:blink:
juanchan
One of the most dangerous jobs working on the motorways..... Especially if you don't follow the safety procedures regarding crossing live lanes!! There are procedures to cross a live motorway?!? Doing anything like that will only end in tears, procedures or not. I appreciate that motorways need to be worked on and someone's got to do it, but IMO no-one should cross a live lane, at 3am or 5pm. As has been pointed out, it would be the driver who would be viewed as "in the wrong" if the worst were to happen. How come when setting out motorway roadworks, the cones are the first thing laid out by a bloke walking alongside a slow moving truck? Surely in the interests of safety a lower speed limit should be the first move?
garethr
There must be two classes of workman -- those who deserve the protection of the cones and a rigorously enforced low speed limit, and the expendable ones who put the cones out in the first place.
