Water leaking/ Radiator

Can any one help me????

I drove from London to Cambridge today and the temp gauge started to go through the roof. The temp gauge read normal whilst driving on motorway. I made it to my address and waited for the engine to cool when I then looked inside the radiator and it was bone dry. I toppped it up with water to see what would happen and then went round the block again. EMPTY.

When i looked under the car there was a puddle at the rear of the engine bay, where i think water is running down. It looks as though water is coming out from where the manifold sits on one side. Does any one have any ideas??? I know it is hard to diagnose but i want to try and get an idea of price or if its something simply i could do myself. Thank you for anyone that may help.

Split hose??? Pipes that come out of the engine are throttle heater on inlet manifold, turbo coolant supply & return pipes and heater supply & return pipes.

Fill it up and idle it until it gets hot and starts to build pressure. Then have a CAREFUL look round at all the pipes and give them a little wiggle.

If its empty at the moment there should be white deposits around where its been leaking & dried.

Didnt you think of pulling over quicker...

and taking a look if the temp gague was going over the roof?

Please take a picture of the area that you think the water is comming out of,

I filled the radiator back up and left the car to idle. When i moved one of the pipes down the back of the engine the leak became a lot worse, more as though as i added water it came out the other side.

I have taken the car to a garage and they said that 99.9% of Supra's that go in with a water leak it is the head gasket that has gone. Is this true?

I can not add pics as the car is now in the garage waiting for a block test. And yes i did think of stopping sooner but the car was running at normal operating temp on the way up, it just fluctuated a little so thought i could sort the problem out when i arrived in Wisbech.

Yeah, on MK3 Supras not MKIVs

Anyway, sounds like you've found the leaking hose, right?

Reminds me of a sight I saw in India with a young boy perched on the front of a truck with a watering can..... topping up the coolant as it drove along

At least you've found the problem. Doubt it will be head related, just need a new hose as these cars are getting old now and hoses do become brittle.
