SUPRASUZUKI
I know it's been discussed before, I've searched but not found the definitive answer. Which two wires do you join to bypass the dimmer switch? I've checked the wires in the connector and appear to have one earth and 2 +12v. The panel fuse is fine. I've tried bridging the two +12v, but no luck. Any help mucho appreciated.
ivan
Why would you bother?
SUPRASUZUKI
Why would you bother? 2 reasons. 1/ I suspect the dimmer switch is dead and bypssing it will prove or disprove this. 2/ Driving the car without dash lights (while I wait for a new switch) at night isn't practical. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.
AlanM
I have the opposite fault, dash lights bright, won't dim down
Guru
Subscribed as hoping to do this this weekend due to exactly the same problem....
SUPRASUZUKI
Found the answer on SF. Join the two white striped wires. White/green to white/black. Ignore the other one (orange/green). The advice on SF was to put a fuse in the bypass, just in case it's not the dimmer at fault and there's a short somewhere else. The fuse protects against frying anything else while trying the bypass. I used a 7.5amp fuse for extra safety. Tried succesfully. The only downside is the dimmer I bought off ebay cost £30. Alan M, sorry mate, this probably doesn't help you. Guru
Ah so you bought it for £30! I was watching with disgust at the price!

Guru
Well at least you have proved you needed it! Imagine finding out it wasn't the dimmer and you just bought this one for £30!
Guru
Just tried this and nothing lit up/dimmed again If it's not the fuses (gonna check AGAIN) or the dimmer switch what could it be?
