terribleturner
Just found out my boss was just popping home during lunch when riding through Ealing a drive decided to do a U turn in traffic without looking. He has gone home but has decided to come in later. Bike i think is a right off and he's got cuts all over the place. With all the ad's on the telly and the amount of 2 wheeled traffic on the roads why is it stupid mistakes like this are still done??
Guest mk47
Thats terrible - glad its just cuts and bruises though. Some drivers do not deserve to be on the road!
michael
To clarify... another driver did a U-turn and not your boss? Sadly humans are idiots.

Kranz
A totally avoidable situation especially in dayight. Hope the boss has his details for an insurance claim? Had one of these on the seafront in Brighton the other week where an old bloke did a U turn infront of a fast moving paramedic vehicle. The paramedic 4x4 cut the front of the Ford Focus, but luckily no injuries. Think once think twice think Bike! "Think once, think twice, think don't drive your car on the pavement!" Young Ones 1981 Sorry, couldn't help it

Havard
For me, it is not worth having a bike these days. Too many knob heads and also too many people without the basic common sense and skills to control a motor vehicle. It's how I ended up with a Supra tbh. The missus said I couldn't have another bike after the last one got flattened under an artic in Wigan. As a compromise I could have a big fook off flash sports car.!! It ain't all bad I suppose! H. terribleturner
Well i had a chat with him when he got back. He was just coming upto Chiswick Roundabout from Hanger Lane direction. Lots of traffic so he's just overtaking it when a car pull's out for a U turn infront of him. He swerved but the car's turning angle was sharper than his. Just as he hit the car he managed to get off the bike. Has come away with a twisted ankle, a few cuts, and a £900's worth of damages to his bike that probably is worth £1200-1500. He was very lucky. I told him to get on the phone to the accident claim companies for his injury's to get a few more quid.
flukey-lukey
I used to watch the young ones with my dad when i was younger, obviously repeats as I wasn't born until 1985 Glad your boss is ok. I used to have a 50cc scooter thing when I was 16, I think riding that for a year made me more concious (sp?) of bikes when I got a car. Chewie
I gave up biking cos of too many near misses. One day I was gonna cop it big time. Are drivers more stupid or is it me?
DannyW
Lots of traffic so he's just overtaking it when a car pull's out for a U turn infront of him. So if he'd been waiting his turn like everyone else then it wouldn't have happened? *Zip* on with the flame-proof suit!
terribleturner
Yes if he had been waiting his turn it wouldn't have been happening. But the highway code says you can overtake at no more than 5mph i belive. It also says mirror signal manouver.

Pete
You can't hypothesise on a situation you don't know the details about. What I do know is a good many bikers take ridiculous risks on the road with total disregard for their own safety. Take this muppet on a C600 the other day. He was hell bent on getting in front of me for some reason, weaving in and out of traffic. Probably trying to prove a point that bikes are faster than cars I'll be surprised if he still has two legs this time next year.
