non-working reversing light - MoT failure?

The reversing light on our Charlotte's Clio doesn't work. Can't see why, the fuse and bulb are OK.

I'll need to get it sorted before her MoT, right? It's just that somebody told her it doesn't matter for the MoT but I don't believe them.

Anyone know for sure?

Apparently by law you don't need a reversing light at all, and it's not part of an MOT test to check that they work.

BUT, MOT tests state that any lights fitted to the vehicle must be working!

So it's luck whether they notice it or not! :D

If there is a light fitted, I would have thought that it must work in order to pass the mot. But there is loads of weird little things that don't have to be there etc. For exp, your car does not have to have a windscreen to pass it's test(but you must remove the wipers aswell)
