Kranz
What makes these so different from the £40 set ive just bought during my service? just curious thats all?! They'll stop the car Seriously though, they are a harder compound giving a higher coefficient of friction, better fade resistance, less gassing, better initial bite and temperature stability and maybe even less brake dust?? Foz
Mine was in for a service on Friday, just from a local garage, a friend of mine knows the guy personally and says hes genuine enough, again its only a small local garage, one man place. Anyhow he calls me during the service and says the my rear pads need replacing and it'll cost £40 for them so i said just go ahead then whilst hes there and do them. He also mentioned that i need replacement front discs and pads so im looking around for those at the moment, got a few posts in the forums. im no expert on brakes but it seems generally the UK spec ones are good and ive been told to stay away from the gooved n drilled stuff as they tend to crack? Anyhow it shows how bad my brakes were/are as just replacing the rear pads theres a noticable difference so god knows what it'll be like when i replace the front discs and pads! so for info i had a service, a turbo timer installed (i supplied it) new rear pads £180 all in. didnt think it was too bad really. again im no expert! Whitesupraboy2
To get UK spec ones its generally around £800. (Discs, Pads + calipers) So id get new Jspec discs and uprated pads and for further improvement braided lines
Foz
wow not too sure i can stretch to that, how come everything seems to come at once in these situations, and im not just talking about the car either! house etc. Well ive been given a price of £176 to replace the front discs and pads so i may have to go with that for now. I did plan at one time (when i was drunk im sure) that i was going to spend £1000 at a time on my Supra with a view to making it safer/faster etc. So far im yet to see the first £1000 be spent on it in this area......if only Supras gave a second income like women do! Id only need the car! hahahah ahem, sorry to any females out there. a slightly fed up Foz.
Whitesupraboy2
I would spend the extra on the front pads from CW. he sells the front pads seperatly as they transform the J spec brakes.
Foz
do you mean replace the discs with the £176 pounds ones then get some pads from CW?
Whitesupraboy2
do you mean replace the discs with the £176 pounds ones then get some pads from CW? yes, the Chris wilson pads fit the standard jspec brakes and give a much better setup. So you would get some new Jspec standard front discs and CW pads. Have you called to see how much the discs are straight from toyota we have a contact at toyota who does the parts cheap when you mention your part of the forum. search steve manley.
