SimonB Posted July 19, 2004 Share Posted July 19, 2004 I've got a RPS lightweight flywheel and South Bend Kevlar clutch (sprung). It rattles at idle sometimes, which I expected and don't mind too much. However, the gearbox also makes a pretty loud rattle when you put your foot down at low revs (i.e. Does anyone else with a LW flywheel and sprung clutch have this? Could it be something that's not right with the installation, or a bearing or something or is it nothing to worry about? I don't mind the noise so much, as long as it's not something that's buggered! Mine (Fidanza + RPS Max) sounds similar e.g. if I do a pull in 5th/6th from 40mph or so, the rattling is pronounced until the speed/revs build. I disappear (well sort of) and everyone has gone 'single'! Had the car just over 2 weeks now, gearbox is working a treat - well it better had! and the so-called racing clutch has given me tinnitus :-) Still on running-in duty so taking it easy, er, relatively speaking. Sherriff Posted July 19, 2004 Share Posted July 19, 2004 Mine rattles like billy-O when it's depressed and I get some very interesting noises when accelerating from low revs ( I've been assured it's nothing to worry about, and it seems to be working ok without any slippage or ill effects, if you're going to JAE you're more than welcome to have a listen Cheers, Sherriff. As long as nothing is loose or knackered that's fine. It's not slipping at all anyway. It's a pretty good clutch actually, it only grabs occasionally and the pedal feels just like stock.
