How bad were my tyres!!!!

Just been in to have 4 new falkens fitted to my supe as my bridgestones have all perished. The tyre fitter called me over to show me the front tyre he had just taken off,now bear in mind this is a 235 wide tyre, he tried to get it to stand up and it was that badly distorted it kept falling over!!! He said it was the worse tyre he had seen.

No wonder it used to shake the wheel at 70mph[sHOCK][/sHOCK]

These tyres have over 6mm of tread and looked fine when inflated but as soon as it was removed from the wheel it just distorted completly i the only thing wrong was they were beginning to perish.

ps yes i check my tyres weekly:tongue:

It has always been a nightmare in the wet but it was ok in the dry untill recently when its become bloody dangerous so i ordered a new set last week and had them fitted today.

It drives so much better now though so smooth:)

Sounds like the car may have been sitting on them for ages without use.

This is what is worrying me, my car has been off the road for a month now (dont want winter dirt/salt on it etc..), so basically it's been standing still. Does this have an impact on the tyres?

Indeedy re: cars sitting a while. I was driving up the M40 shortly after getting mine, when the rear left tyre promptly exploded, no big drama, and no harm done as I just pulled over. It had given out where the car had been standing for ages. The tyres were 3 years old when I had them replaced.
