RedM
Anyone spotted this yet? An 810hp twin-turbo M5 with a top speed of about 240mph. Interesting turbo placement if that pic is accurate.
Pete
That turbo arrangement is bizarre.

Seb
We (BMW Car magazine) ran what I believe is the only magazine article on it as of yet, but unfortunately it was a freelancer who covered it and not one of us on the mag itself. Has Currency Motor Cars carried out a working conversion? Yes. Is it any good? I wouldn't like to say. Those sort of turbo set ups are apparently quite popular in the US for domestics and have also been used on some Japanese cars, but obviosuly questions regarding turbo lag and the vulnerability of the turbos are instantly raised. Add in the fact that the engine has received no work whatsoever and the gearbox (which can only take approx. 420lb ft) is also standard and you begin to worry. The guy then claims 800bhp while the dyno chart he sent us showed something like 550bhp at the wheels, up 130bhp on the dyno figures they have for the stock M5. He then says the car will 240mph but it can't possibly do that without extensive bodywork modifications. We're planning on timing the car in the near future when we have the chance, but for now, all I can say is that it's real and it works. Matt H
theres no way that car does 240mph, its not aerodynamic enough and it will probably take off at that speed.
Matt H
That turbo arrangement is bizarre. probably not enough room in the engine bay

Guest T72MKIV
That setup looks so ghetto, the welds look like crap. The pipe wrapping could've been done better. I don't think anyone with half a brain would even pay 35k for that. I think 350k is a typo, and added 1 extra zero.

Take a look at the frontal area of a supra and an M5, and you'll soon see why your supra with that power will outrun the M5 by a long shot!. Thorin
Interesting, first I've seen of "remote turbo's"
cashpoint
I think the hp figures at at the pub figures and the 240mph top speed is geared top speed not what the car can actually achieve. If anyones interested then I'll do the same kit for £35K

RobSheffield
The remote turbos thing is done very often in the states. There were some pics on SF a while ago now, random american barges with turbos mounted in the tailpipes. In fact, someone posted something about this the other day, unless im getting Deja vu http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=99614
