carl0s
I so want an RSR You don't! Mild steel and far too loud
Burna
You don't! Mild steel and far too loud The new RSR is fully stainless And I'm sick to death of quiet! Out of interest what would you recomend instead Carl0s?
Supradan
The hks titanium sounds wicked and is not too loud that it shatters windows lol but then i am biased as thats whats on my car:d
Chewie
The new RSR is fully stainless Stainless steel cold welds or galls. This is probably the problem. You only need a close tight fit between two sliding surface and if there's no anti-seize compound... bingo... stuck for life!
carl0s
The new RSR is fully stainless And I'm sick to death of quiet! Hmm. I'm sure my RS*R was the 'new' one (about a year ago), and although the backbox was stainless, the midpipe was mild steel. Out of interest what would you recomend instead Carl0s? Anything that doesn't turn journeys into a tiresome "LOOK AT ME!" episode. Sitting at traffic lights with the air-con on, with an RS*R is just embarassing. It goes. "bu-bu-bu-bu-bu, BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, bu-bu-bu-bu-bu ... [repeat indefinately until the lights turn green and you can move away]"
RedM
RS*R SchmRS*R! What you really need is a Greddy Ti. Nice deep burble with a lovely roar at WOT. A colleague at work said it make the car sound like it's a V8. I still have both cats in too.
monkey76364
I had to use loads of WD40 and some good pliars lol... let it heat up too:)
Trig
sound clip for ya, without the baffle. Trust me, its worth it! http://media.putfile.com/RSR-supra-trig
Thorin
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=33138&highlight=rsr+baffle some info here as you read thru the thread I still haven't taken the baffle out! Was going to have a go with a crowbar, insert into exhaust and hook it round the back of the baffle and yank out.
carl0s
I still haven't taken the baffle out! Was going to have a go with a crowbar, insert into exhaust and hook it round the back of the baffle and yank out. They should make a tool for the job. Something which opens out like an umbrella once slotted inside. I suspect a crowbar won't work. It'll try to pull it to one side.
Thorin
I suspect a crowbar won't work. It'll try to pull it to one side. What if I yank it really hard and swear a lot?
carl0s
What if I yank it really hard and swear a lot? Good luck! You could do what I did, and just drive around without the nut in place. If you're lucky one day it'll get spat out of the exhaust when you're least expecting it (although I must admit to having not pushed it in *all* the way)
Burna
Hmm. I'm sure my RS*R was the 'new' one (about a year ago), and although the backbox was stainless, the midpipe was mild steel. That must have still been an old RS*R as the new one (RS*R ExMag GTII) has a polished 304 stainless steel canister and then ceramic coated 409 stainless steel piping. I've also had it confirmed by Envy that the new ones they sell are the fully stainless ones Anything that doesn't turn journeys into a tiresome "LOOK AT ME!" episode. Sitting at traffic lights with the air-con on, with an RS*R is just embarassing. It goes. "bu-bu-bu-bu-bu, BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, bu-bu-bu-bu-bu ... [repeat indefinately until the lights turn green and you can move away]" Now that's not the sort of annoyance I was after Think I might take a trip over to Pete and ask him nicely if he'll be kind enough to take me out for short everyday drive to see if it is going to be that bad for my daily driver.
