Are the coils on the 2jz-gte triggered from earth or live???

Guys I have been wiring in a bosch driver module to run my coil packs as I have an Autronic SM4 ecu fitted. The way the bosch module works with the ecu is that all the coils have a constant live feed straight from the battery via a fuse and ignition triggered relay. The pulse is then fed from the ECU through the bosch driver and onto the -ve side of the coils (They are triggered from an earth).

This is all fine but I am not sure which wire on the coil plugs is the +ve and which is the -ve.

I had originally taken the brown/orange wire which is slightly thicker gauge and the same on each cylinder to be the earth and the other differently coloured wires to be the live wires. Since starting the engine and getting a very weak spark and only firing on 3 cylinders I now think that I have wired the coil packs in reverse. ie; the brown/orange wire is really the live and is supposed to go to the battery and the other differently coloured thinner wires are the earth which are to be run to the driver module to trigger the coils.:innocent:

I did swap the pins on each coils about to try this and the car seemed to run slightly better but it is still only firing on a few cylinders. I am thinking this is prob because I have either fried the coil packs or fried the bosch driver by originally wiring the coils in reverse.

I need to know if this is correct before I start to try another set of coils or another driver as I do not want to fry anymore components.

If I at least know that the wiring is correct then I can try another set of coils or another driver to see if it sorts the problem.

Help on this is much appreciated BTW;)

Ahh, I should have mentioned before....

I have fitted the 2jz-gte engine into my IS200. The complete original loom is gone as i am not using it at all. the ECU is a standalone unit.

I have wired the coils from scratch already including the relay, fuse to the battery and the driver back to the ECU.

The only thing I don't know is which wire is +ve and which is -ve on the coil plugs themselves. I do know a couple of guys with supras though so I suppose i could test the polarity on their car.
