Do you have RLTC? If you don't have RLTC, try resetting the ECU and/or checking the speedo converter.

Also, I had a similar problem with a bad earth connection on the SLD

nice one chaps as advised by dude checked and changed fuse removed restted plug to the switch the switch does not seem very positive like there is no click if you know what i mean cant remember if this is normal or not

The car has been standing for a while and picked it up from the body shop yesterday and it was doing this was not doing it when i took it to them

iam a bit stumped!!!!!!

It flashes like this to tell you it's not working for some reason. You could check the connectors to the trac butterfly motor and position sensor under the bonnet. They are at the front of the throttle body each side just where the pipe from the intercooler comes in. Oh, and the plug that goes into the trac ECU, which is next to the main ECU under the cover in the passenger footwell. The switch doesn't click normally, so that's OK.
