Homer
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicestershire/6423103.stm A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to a minimum of two years in jail for killing a pensioner who challenged him about urinating in the street. Disgusting At the end of the article it even seems like the police are blaming the old guy!

Daston
me and a mate was talking about this and if the gov continues like it does it may have been better for the germans to have won the war, at least there wouldnt be unimployment and there would be a sence of justice done to criminals

toyotasuprauk
British Justice system is completely pathetic. There is no consistency with any of the sentencing and the criminals have no respect or fear of the police or the comical sentences that they think they might get if they get caught. RobCowley
That's absolutely disgraceful....I'm 22 and have all the respect in the world for old people! Can't believe the justice system in this country sometimes.....It's no wonder i'm buggering off to Greece in 2 months, 3 weeks and counting..... MrHanky
What a pile of crap. Nice to see a few compassionate words from the police. They might as well have just said "serves the old guy right for standing up for whats right".

The 2 years sentence is a joke. We will probably serve 12 months if he has not already served most of it on remand anyway. A mate of my dads murdered his wife with a baseball bat and then went out for a ride on his bike to cover up his tracks. He was found guilty in court. Lets have a game of guess the sentence!! 4 years!!
SupraStar 3000
With this and that other story in the news of the guy that destroyed the jewish graves makes me rage. The way I see it, some pets make loyal, loving, faithful companions. Others are just killers than need to be exterminated. same rule applies to us IMHO
geoffvalenti
This really is beyond the realms of sensibilities. How did they manage to come up with that sentence?
Schtuv
I'm surprised they published the killers street address in the article on the website - with a sentance as low as that I'd expect to see some 'mob justice' happenning in the area, soon ... Bob
With any luck he'll get some 'proper' justice inside. The justice system in this country is farcical at times, though.
Angarak
This county is going down the sh*tter fast thanks to the bleeding hearts and human rights bunch. I was listening to Radio 5 Live yesterday, there was a chap on whose daughter had been in a bad car accident, caused by a Romanian who had only just come to the country, he was driving with no insurance, in a french registered STOLEN car and didnt speak a word of English. I can only assume he stole the car in france and came over here in it. Anyway, he was given a £200 fine. The daughter is off work with whiplash and the chap has a £400 excess on his insurance policy...so he's come out worse off than the bloody immigrant who caused the damn crash. Makes you want to knock on the Judge's head with a clenched fist and shout "hello". Can't wait for Sean Beans latest film to come out on cinema, its about taking the law into your own hands...and apparently may cause some debate. Snooze
Stephen Chapman picked up Mr Kerr by the shoulders and threw him to the ground. He died in hospital from broken ribs and pneumonia. Out of interest, and to stir the pot a little..... Can I ask people what sentence they think Chapman should have recieved if he picked up Mr Kerr by the shoulders and threw him to the ground if he didn't get broken ribs or pneumonia and survived? *edit: And before anyone flames me, I agree with all of you that he should have got a much, much harsher sentence. I see what you're saying but bear in mind Mr Kerr is a frail pensioner; any scum low enough to attack such a person deserves little more than death by lethal injection, via a rusty needle in the japs-eye. Regardless of whether he intended to kill him or not.
