fparrish
hey, Did a search about fitting decats on my na the other day. When me and my friend went about going to fit them the first cat thats on the car appears to have a sensor going into it, is this an o2 sensor or a cat temperature sensor, is it totally necessary?! as the first decat pipe i have has no hole for it?! does one require drilling?! Please help....... Cheers, Fred.
Konrad
I belive it is O2 sensor.
Steviekid
It's a temperature sensor, the O2 sensors are in the exhaust manifold. It's only the UK spec that has a second 02 sensor in the second cat.
fparrish
cheers, does that mean that if its a temperature sensor its a bit useless and can be junked? or do i have to drill holes and fit it into the first decat?!
Nic
cheers, does that mean that if its a temperature sensor its a bit useless and can be junked? or do i have to drill holes and fit it into the first decat?! Just cable tie it up out of the way, no need to refit.

carl0s
You should NOT cut it off!! sssh. Don't say that now I was told to do so, and I have done. No going back now! oops. Is something bad going to happen?
carl0s
I just didn't want it rattling about or anything. Figured it'd be tidier if it was just gone out of the way. Have I picked up some bad advice? I did it at Malcolm's house and he was saying "are you *sure* it's safe to cut off?", I was like "yeah, apparently... so the other guys have said". Plus, it was bloody rotted to the cat. It wasn't going to unscrew easily. Ooops indeed
