PicooZ Helicopter

Recommended Posts

Just got one of these little helicopters from Tescos.

Its really great fun but Im struggling to make it go forwards and backwards in any decent fashion. Has anybody else got one of these and do you find it easy to make it fly? I can hover with no problems.

These are great,

You want to put a little bit of weight on the nose, that way it will always fly forwards, but this makes it quite controllable.

I used Bluetac, don't use a drawing pin, as it is easy to pierce the Li poly battery which are apparantly a little volatile.

they supply little sticky bits of aluminium to put on the front now. I will give them a go and see how that runs.

How often do you go through tail rotors? First crash I did took out the rotor completely and had to use the only spare.

I got mine for £19.95 from Tescos.

They are about the size of a tv remote, but seriously lightweight. They have about 6 minutes flying time from 20 minute charge. Built for indoor use really but can go outside on a calm day. Im flying mine round the new extension which has nothing in it and loads of space.

mines set me back £700 for the kit then £1000 for the jr megregor hand set then you've got to buy a gyiro £200 engine £200 quid etc expencive game! but you can get the little piccilo fly for £200 that can fly up down left right upside down etc... £20 ones are fun but your restrictied to what you can do.

i got a piccoz few months ago, quick simple way to make it go forward is stick a thumb tack pin into the nose, will weight down the front. also might want to remove the spring from the throttle, as its annoying once you let go it just stops, and falls to the ground, least, this way you can control the throttle easier.

I have the Honnybee (small one) and Mosquito.

Both seem to be equally hard to fly.

Its just a matter or practice practice practice.

That Picoo has contra-rotating blades which should make it easyer to fly.

Why have you got a candle on your head?

I've had a couple of the Picoo Z's - they are fantastic.

If you want long flight-times, do NOT add weight to the front end. Add some cellotape around the nose, so that the air being pushed down from the rotors is "caught" in the cellotape, thus pushing the front end down and moving forward :)

the Picoo Z toolbox is very useful for mods :

I got mine from Tescos Borehamwood, its a Tescos Extra so has a wide range of toys, if you cant find it in Amersham then try a Tescos Extra. I wonder if they sell them in their online shop...?

Argos also do a small helicopter, but tis £49.

I spent a bit of time last night practicing hovering and its a great little toy. Just wish it had more than 5 minutes battery life.

Lui, I agree, Im thinking whether I could go to a bigger model already.
