Homer
Planning on installing my shiny new Walbro pump tomorrow, but I'm unsure how to get one of the fittings off. Could anyone tell me how to get the little item circled detaches from the assembly? It looked like its just a bolt but it just didn't seem to want to move Though it best to ask here before I break something! Also, are there any things I should be wary of? (Already know about staggering the wires and of course, not smoking )
matt
Try anticlockwise:p
Jake
It's a union bolt (at least I think that's what they're called). Just undo it like a regualr bolt, it's tight though. Then take off the fuel pipes and the huge jubilee clip, then unscrew that big plastic ring. That's the most difficult bit, I had to beat it round with a socket extension and a hammer. Homer
Thanks, guess I'll give it a bit more force!
Supra ST Myster
also isnt it wise to open the fuel cap to de pressurize the fuel so it wont spurt out when undoing the clips??
Jake
Sounds like a good idea, Emin. I wish I'd known that when I did mine.
SimonB
Yep, and take the fuel pump fuse out (or the connector to the pump) and crank the engine a few times to depressurise the line a bit too...
Ian C
Or just undo it and mop the fuel up with bogroll -Ian
paul mac
leave the car for about 20 minutes after switching the engine off as they hold the pressure for quite a while, this should avoid spillage, when re-fitting the big plastic ring put some silicone grease on it or washing up liquid (anything non petroleum based) it should then p**s on rather than having to knock s**t out of it all the way round, and be carefull with it being plastic it is easy to cross thread, i seem to remember having to do a bit of bending of the metal bracket that holds the pump as it did'nt line up

In fact don't use washing up liquid cos that in itself turns into a gluey substance over time. A bit of the old vaseline should be a better idea if you experience tightening problems. Well if we are gonna drag this thread down then I would go with some KY lol but that would be more for pushing into tight spaces than screwing into reluctant threads;)

(Already know about staggering the wires and of course, not smoking ) PS that plastic ring nut thingy that holds the fuel tank top in will be the hardest thing to undo. I had to muller the crap out of mine with a hammer and drift to get it to undo.

Homer
I cut the existing wires and used the butt splices supplied to connect up the new harness. Seemed to do the trick! Didn't realise there was an alternative?

dangerous brain
Think I am gonna need an upgrade fuel pump for this n2o kit i have sat next me. Was gonna stick it on me barge but having warped the heads on it once I will be giving that a miss now and will whack it on the supe instead. Homer
I got mine from Terry so not sure if they're the same... The kit had: - pump & filter & retainer - 2x butt splices - wiring harness - fuel pipe - 2x jubeliee clips - isolator The splices were certainly part of the pack, think this kit came from the states originally...
