whats the attraction? :search:

I think Rob secretly wants to have revenge on of all of us who made mock of his second turbo usage (or lack of) by pulling out into the middle lane while going uphill and thereby slowing us all down.

Don't do it, Rob.;)

Jeeze I can't think of anything more dull than driving up and down motorways for a living (he says after having cover 1200 miles in the last 5 days).... whats the attraction? :search:

International driving would be fun, especially for us unattached people :)

Travelling europe while earning money sounds like fun

Actually, my mate who's a mechanic for an F3 team says they are crying out for team truck drivers. Blokes don't seem to want to go away most weeks in the summer to steaming hot race tracks and watch formula 1 for free and all that.

If i weren't a familly man, i'd do it.

It is an increasingly hard thing to achieve to get your HGV Class 1 license. To get a company to pay for you to get your license and then work for them, you have more chance of winning the lottery as there is no shortage of HGV drivers that require work. If you do get a company that will do it you will be tied down to them for several years.

PSV would be a better option as I know First bus do train you but you do have to stay with them for 3 years.

:) HI Rob ...the test is difficult no mistakes etc just like a car test but alot more involved if you go on a course like you say it will be covered in that ie Tacho laws etc maximum driving periods and minimum breaks etc a bit to get your head around, i passed mine some 18/19 years ago and its more and more paperwork nowadays

Hope ive not put you off tho it is a good life if you get into the right firm

Cheers

Ian

Rob i have my C and C+E i didn't find it too hard to pick up, but it is totally different mentality when driving a truck especially artic sized. I managed to get both my C and C+E within 6 weeks . I passed my test driving through the middle of Hull :D

There are companies out there that will pay for you to take C+E if you have C. If you are definitely interested then save up and get your C license then get a job and convince a company to sponsor you for C+E

You could always join the Army and get them for free :D

There is no shortage of work and it is well paid but it is dull as dish water.

SAadly for me a doidgy back has stopped me taking up any hgv work.

I WAS going to join the TA, get my lorry license, muck about on salisbury common, swank around Aldershot, shag some hookers and leave, but i found out (from this very helpful forum in fact!) that i would likely be sent to afghaistan/iraq/other nasty place with much airborne steel and so i sort of decided not to :p
