RedM Posted March 4, 2007 Share Posted March 4, 2007 Ian or anyone else. I know you read Sci-Fi. What should I be checking out? I recently picked up Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks and I'm loving it. I've previously read some Greg Bear stuff but that's about it for Sci-Fi. I usually read cult author type stuff, Palahniuk, Copeland and the like. Jpod is not Sci-fi. B. Already read it. There's an incident with a Supra near the end. C. I thought it was a 'noughties' re-write of Microserfs. If you're like me, and always want to read series in chronological order, Reynold's first book is Revelation Space, and Morgan's first is Altered Carbon. I can recommend both series. I read Accelerando (available as a free e-book http://www.accelerando.org/) some time ago and loved that, while looking up quite a few terms on wikipedia though (Dyson sphere's aren't anything to do with vacuum cleaners apparently). I also read Singularity Sky recently and enjoyed that and now have the follow up, Iron Sunrise, to read. All of the technology he writes about is based on genuine theorised stuff (dyson sphere's, alcubierre drives etc) which I think makes it all the more interesting.
