My Spec isnt that great, in fact you'll probably think it belongs in a museum given todays machines :)

WinXP Pro

AMD Athlon XP 2500 (runs at 1800Mhz)

1gb DDR Ram (can't remember what speed)

Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Mobo (decent mobo for its time)

256mb Ati Radeo 9600XT

SB Audigy 2 sound card

Running game @ 1024x768 on decent enough settings and getting around 50fps on average on most tracks.

Im using a Thrustmaster 'formula 1' racing wheel and pedals (ancient lol)...am tempted to get the one Tony mentioned above as its the best out there apparently.

I'm in the process of making a video using FRAPS of me doing the 'tourist' lap in the Lotus Elise. I do great until I go down into 1st instead of 2nd on a bend and spin the back end out...then its all downhill from there lol. I will post a link once uploaded somewhere like youtube or google.

I also use a program called FSAutoStart to launch my games. It was made for a flight sim originally but can be used for any game. It basically lets you shuts down processes that are running in the background that you do not need for gaming, improving the performance of your system whilst you play the game. It can be configure to restart any process/application you shutdown when you exit the game...a handy tool for squeezing more FPS out your games.

Here's my DivX movie of my 'tourist' track lap in the lotus elise:

:: http://tinyurl.com/3d9lkm

You'll need the DivX player to watch it: http://www.divx.com

As you'll see, Im crap lol, but in my defence I still havent memorised the full track. :)

Edit:

Youtube WMV version (poorer quality for some reason):

Well the logitech wheel I ordered has just arrived. I just had a quick peek in the box, and it looks pretty sturdy. The wheel doesn't look as heavy as my old Guillemot FFB one, but it is leather bound which is nice.

I'll have a go with it tonight on Nascar 2003 and GP4. GTR2 should be arriving tomorrow, so I'll let you know how I get on....

I'm well chuffed. I got home and GTR2 was waiting for me. So I've spent all night learning Monza. (Nice and easy to start with!)

Also got my wheel set-up with all the buttons programmed up now. All I can say is it's bloody superb! It really is a good bit of kit. It's early days still, but on first impressions, I'm very happy with it.

I can see a few sleepless nights on the horizon!

One question though. How do I export my lap data to i2pro? I've downloaded the motec software, and when I click on motec it loads it up, but I can't see any logged data. I've obviously missed something......

Cheers,

Just got GTR2 and D/L this mod, but not knowing this game, where do you put the directory?

Doe it just go into the root on the game directory?

Place the "Nordschleife" folder into the following location:

:: x/GameData/Locations/

...where x is the installation directory for GTR2.

PC plays it ok, but if I try the tourist track, the BMW spins across the traffic island, slams into the fence and crashes into the entry barrier, so just like real life...

Has anyone else had this issue?

I've not had that issue, but any ingame stuttering is an idication of your PC struggling to run it smoothly at the settings you have chosen.

You can improve your ingame FPS by downloading FSAutoStart, a tool that lets you configure what background services are running whilst you play the game.

The less background non-essential services running, the more resources your system has whilst playing the game.

If your using Windows XP, you can also download TuneXP v1.5, which lets you squeeze more performance out of the operating system.

Sorry dude, maybe I didn't explain it clearly enough.

I can play the game with no real performance issues.

I have played the track on one of the other options, but when I choose the tourist track, from the start the man waves me on.

The car then drives itself over what I can only describe as a divider or grassy area, it then slams into the fence beside the track and drags it along it until it hits one of the entrance barriers.

It's then stuck there.

The other track was fine to play.. Wish I had a steering wheel instead of the PS2 joypad.. Still I haven't got the room to set one up really.

I'm following this, but still can't get it to save any lap info.

I've got data aquisition during race turned on, I've set up the config file as per that website, but still nothing. :search:

It's as if it's just not actually saving any data... anywhere.

Cheers michael, that did the job.

It's bloody addictive though isn't it? I've just slashed out, so to speak, and another GE-Force 6600GT which I've got running in sli mode so I can ramp the graphics and the number of opponents cars up. Didn't seem to do all too much good :(

Still increased my 3D mark 03 scores from 8500 to 14500 :)

Have managed to get my time around Monza down to 1:45.2, getting there.....
