Undecided about Crufts. It's nice that people with such a passion keep producing nice dogs, but on the other side of the coin, dogs like Bulldogs and Pugs suffer horendous breathing problems because the show world has dictated how each dog should look- German Sheppards have back & hip problems, Staffies have birthing problems because the heads are too big for the mothers hips, and why does a show dog need it's tail docked? It gives the impression that the heath and wellfare of the dog comes a very distant second to winning a cup.

Ooo Dobermans! DO you want another one? :D

We were going to go to crufts but it's such a hassle finding someone to take our dogs while we are out it's not worth it!!! Plus I just couldn't seem to find the tickets we wanted, I was probably being dim.

I'd be interested in talking to you about dobes though, I'm convinced ours has had it's growth stunted. He's a year old now and doesn't look as big as yours at 5 months!!

I agree totally. The show scene has ruined some nice dogs. As for the docking of tails well the dobermans for instanse are a working dog and have there tails docked as to save them getting damaged and possibly infected. Now its illegal to have a dobes tails docked unless you can prove it to be a working dog.

They look weird with tails. They are all scraggly, I suppose because theres never been a reason to breed that part of them!! Oh well, thats something for breeders to work on!

I think we got one of the last docked ones.

Same with Rotties. They just don't look right with a tail

I've seen Dobes, Rotties and Boxers with tails now, and they look much better.

A dog at Crufts isn't a working dog, so that negates the need for docking.

Thats not true. Although you will probably not come across I have know of a few. Plus they have the "working breed". Its down to the owner if they work them or not
