nick_karkie Posted July 13, 2004 Share Posted July 13, 2004 My friend owns a TT auto J-spec and he says his handbrake warning light comes up for 10 secs after he floors it from 40-80 say. Ian C Posted July 13, 2004 Share Posted July 13, 2004 Yep. It's caught a lot of us out in the past. The light is the low brake fluid warning and when it's everso slightly down, usually caused by pad wear (the caliper pistons go further and so more fluid out of the reservoir is used), then high-G manoeuvres cause the fluid to dip just below the sensor, triggering the light. -Ian Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I got some of the toyota, stuff last time my light came on, about 8 months ago. will this still be ok? I know it doesn't cost a lot, but silly to buy somemore when there's some in the garage. Once opened you should use it straight away. Depends really on how much you hoon about really. If your pushing the system every day then you really need to have top grade brake fluid. If Miss Daisy would ask you to put your foot down a little, you'd prbably be OK. Personally for the sakes of what? £10 max, I would get some fresh.
