Geo
So i wake up this morning to find a letter from my ISP stating that i download to much. One of the months i downloaded over 140Gb, the policy now states that as of now, they have introduced a fair use policy, which means i can only download 15gb PM, anything over this i get charged for. Now the only reason im with my ISP is because they clearly stated, UNCAPPED/UNLIMITED downloads. I have now phoned them and put my case forward so now iv got a limit of 50Gb per month. What do you guys use, and how much do you download, as i know most download things like 24/lost etc. Whats your views on this??
Lukeyboy2k
I got a similar letter from the cowboys that call themselves tiscali yesterday. After months of trying to get the migratory code I gave up and "upgraded" to 2meg unlimited broadband. Having downloaded about 1.5gig in about 10 days (so we'll say 5gig/month conservatively) I get the letter saying I'm downloading too much - I know fair usage etc applies but I don't think the amount I use is unfair. I think they're taking the p*ss. I suppose it depends on pricing etc, but to me what would seem fair would be unlimited (in real terms) at about 4meg for £25/month. Alan999
Ive recenetly started downloading loads of stuff mate, and thats the same reason i am with the provider that i am with, because i get unlimited downloads. Now if thay took this off me i would go mad at them at first and if they didnt let you have it then i would change providers. They are robbin gits you pay enough as it is, then they want more off you for downloading what they said you could in the first place! KaoriFan
i use bulldog, its not perfect, but thats down to the VIA chipset and the speedtouch modem overloading the USB. can run 24/7 with no problems, and even though i don't get the max 8MB i have no worries about downloading. lets just say i don't know what a GB is only a TB i was with BT before changing, on 24/7 unlimited then they changed terms and conditions and only sent me a letter which i didn't get, they were going to charge me 330UK in excess usage, so i changed to Bulldog and they cancelled the amount. there loss my gain edited to add: BT were going to limit me to 15GB a month, which was no use, as i download so much from Japanese TV
Henk
Been with NTL since 1998, have bit torrented, P2P'd constantly (for back up purposes of course) and in the last 2 years work from home mostly thus downoading massive work files as well at the same time. I must be well over 200Gb per month and never once had a letter or anything. I'm on their 10Mb connection deal.
