Alex
I would guess it's a flat battery. Did you have the interior light on whilst working on the car? Or the stereo? Anyway it's likely to be the battery of a loose connection to it.
ChrisR
Yep, i agree sounds lik a flat battery to me too.
Manic
Its possible I suppose but its always started perfect every time up until this morning. The fast clicking continues until I turn off ignition. Is there nothing I could have pulled off behind the dash to reproduce this? Matt Oh and yes I did have the light on and it took about 1 and half hours
Manic
In cars i've had before when the battery is flat as u turn the ignition the starter motor chugs then stops. This now is not turning but i get an electrical sounding fast continuos click. Matt

SupraStar 3000
Did the same myself last weekend. Just fitted 4 Infinity speakers + tweeters, then whilst working on the side skirts noticed the speakers starting to clip at high bass. Thought i'd blown them, then noticed the interior light was very dim (a bit like myself)
Manic
Thanks for the replys, cars gonna have to wait now as F1 on so i'll try again l8r. Matt
Grazer
Definitely sounds like battery to me - I've done the same myself a couple of times while working on the stereo.
SimonB
Yep, deffo battery. What happens is that there's enough power to open the relay, then the starter motor draws all the power and so the relay closes again. Then there's enough power to open the relay again and the cycle starts again. Makes a clicking noise.
Manic
Right, Mrs just came home so connected jump leads, with other car running turned my ignition initially small amount of starter then clicks, 2nd attempt just clicks. I dont want to harbour the point but is there any other way I can confirm its battery ie lights dimming etc. Its just that its started perfecy every time since I got it and I do use it every day. Surely 1.5 hours wouldnt completely deadened the battery? Matt
Ian C
Try your wipers and electric windows - they will be sluggish. It's a bat flattery. -Ian
Manic
No the wipers and windows seem fine albeit slower up than down, but no different from normal?
Manic
Errr, guess what it was the battery HB005 from Halfords, Job done. Matt
