Sky Insurance

My experience with Sky is not very good, though their policy seems good and the agreed value is worth its weight in gold. I was however very disappointed with their price for the last renewal, it more than doubled my just due to the single (yet adding only 150bhp to the power). Even though it was mentioned I'm likely to do less than 1k miles this year I still get charged over £1.2k to insure it  Next I find out that similar or more powerful cars are being insured for less for much younger or far less experienced drivers, in even worse postcode areas!

I will not be advising for their renewal as club insurer this year

I asked for Jay the other day and they said he 'doesnt work in this branch' any more which I took to mean he had moved on. I take it that isnt true?

I am working from the Potters Bar office for while. You can still contact PM me or email [email protected]. If anyone has a problem with Sky Insurance I always happy to hear, TBH thats why I am a member on the forum.

Insurance is different for everyone, i understand that.. location, age of driver, usage, mods', value, age of car etc..

When my insurance came up i checked everyone... previously I was with Adrian flux who had been the best by a long way, but sky was great, and i am now with them.. cheapest (by hundreds in a few cases!) and agreed value is fantastic..

I would always say shop around.. but i would always say make sure you give Sky a shout.....

Well I have to say I was very dissapointed with the quote I got for my do-luck aristo. The cars value is less than my old aerotop supra's was. Theres been no convictions or claims since I had that car. The power as it stood when I got it was declared as less than the power declared on my aerotop (which has now been proven true) and I was quoted nearly double the amount I was paying for the aerotop. There was no attempt to better the quote either. I called A-plan (thatcham office) and guess what. He came back initially with a similar figure (still lower than sky) and announced to me that he really wasn't happy with that amount and that he would call me back when the underwriters were going to be a bit more reasonable about the quote.

just got a price form the sky and it was 690 fully comp, but than went a A-plan and they have given me a price of 510 fully comp with protected no claims and aa cover and with all mods .. well happy with that. for the fun i went to tesco and got a quote of 1600 third party, and 2300 full comp with a excess of 850!!!! i just laughed.

a plan are a great company and made me feel very welcome and seem to know about there cars and the mods and the parts added. give them a go.

I have just bought a second car to use for work ( non jap) I have just rang Sky and they were way out with their price. They even shadowed my NCD from my Supra to my other car and they were still £150 dearer than Bell who I have gone with (part of Admiral). I also asked them to remove business use class one from the supra and also reduce the mileage from 12000 per year to about 3000 and put it on social use only and she said she would do that but I am not entitled to any money back??

Sky suck's, I have had nothing but problems with them, I went on to the autotrader site yesterday and did the insurance check thing, I'm 30 drive a N/A soop thats standard, and got a quote of £267 fully comp! sky want £435!

BYE BYE SKY!

I think you need to be very careful with your 'cheap' insurance. Most of the online systems cant cope with imports and so its possible that its quoted against a mkiii NA or doesnt have the car details right.

I would be interested to hear what problems you have had with Sky as you say you have had nothing but problems with them.

I called both A-Plan and Sky, my current insurance is with Sky and with single turbo and body mods declared got the following quotes :-

A-Plan : £789

Sky : £771

I think both are very resonable for a 510hp motor :D

Is the agreed value worth having and if so what would my car be valued at?

On any car that is physically worth alot more to replace than its equivalent year book price then it really is a must have. The agreed value amount is hashed out between you and the insurer. Basically you have to figure out in all reality how much it would cost to replace the whole car as it stands. That said doubling up the policy cost makes it a bitter pill to swallow especially as both sky and A plan they were using the same underwriters.

I've just renewed with Sky after a couple of phone calls, They were very helpful indeed (I spoke to Daniel).

They quoted me £1036 for the year, which includes my TT engine conversion (to be done at the weekend), like for like cover on all the mods on the car and an agreed value. Oh and I'm 24 with 5 years no claims. And 3 points on my licence for speeding

A-Plan quoted me on the same and it came out £120 more expensive!
